I've seen a postie with quite a few years service sacked for exactly this. Don't forget, in today's regime there's plenty of colleagues that will make management aware behind their back if someone is doing this, you don't need just management!

Totally agree. Its shocking that its 2021 and we are delivering millions of bits of paper to every house in the country of which surely 90%+ goes straight in the bin without being read.

Working for RM I found it fascinating how scared most posties were of losing their job or upsetting the DOM. They have built a fear culture more so than other places I've worked. The reality is, it's a job now with no perks. It's absolute drudgery since covid, particularly for reserves. It's poorly paid and the working conditions and culture are dire.
Don't pipe up with it's well paid for what it is. It's not, any job less than the national average is not well paid. If you're on a 27 hour contract which in effect is full time hours when you factor in the recovery time then it is very badly paid.
The grass is greener elsewhere. There are a lot easier ways to get paid what you get paid at RM. I should know.

The end of direct marketing would see a massive drop in the number of letters and flats going through the system so the call rate is bound to plummit. I doubt that there'd be enough packets each day for each walk for RM to justify not cutting the number of walks
At my DO, the walks are too big anyway. Take away the D2D and they may be manageable on a light day. We've not seen a dramatic decline in letters apart from a short period in the summer. They just started the lapsing then and never stopped it. So I don't see the drop in letter propaganda. It doesn't wash, certainly not where I live. It may be different elsewhere.

We're probably putting through between 1/2 and 3/4 of what we put through our machines this time last year. It's probably a fair bit less than that if you exclude bulk postings. we're due to lose one of our two iLSMs next year. Do you really think that RM would be doing that if there wasn't a massive drop in letters traffic?
As more and more items get the 2D barcodes there'll be more and more data about what each walk is getting
