Has my item been lost between MC and DO ?

Hi All :)

Just wondering if my item has gone missing, it's been stuck at "Your item is due to leave Nottingham MC to go to Newark DO. More information will be available as it travels through our network." since the 9th October (12 days as of posting).

It's not an expensive item, however it was custom made and would be rather time consuming to replace.

I have received other items from China recently without issue.

Is that your local delivery office, might be worth giving them a call or popping in with a print out of the tracking info…in my experience alot of mail from China comes with incomplete or incorrect address labels?

Indeed Newark is my local DO.

I did try to contact the local DO last week but the IVR sent me through to general customer services who just said they couldn't see anything more and I should keep waiting.

Is there a better way to contact them? Popping in is one option but local DO doesn't have any customer parking unfortunately which makes it a small pain.

Ordinarily I too would suspect address but this supplier has sent me other items in the past, in fact this was part of a larger order that arrived by UPS except they forgot this one small part and (annoyingly) sent it separately via the somewhat cheaper Chinapost.

Unfortunately there are gaps in customer service when things go wrong, a faceless customer service bod telling you what you have on a tracking page is not a particularly good way to appease a customer whose custom we want to sustain…

Another possibility after reading your second post, if the item is a v.small packet and has not received any other scan for 2 weeks makes me think it has possibly become stuck in a piece of equipment we use (auto level/red sleeve).

Another possibility is the address label/barcode has become unreadable or detached from the packet.

Unfortunately it is a waiting game, I’d give it another week to see if it shows up before deeming it lost (ie receives a further tracking scan to show its on the move)

Received an update from Royal Mail today:
"As there have been no tracking scans since 09.10.2021, regrettably we would now class this item as lost. Please accept my apologies."

So I guess that's that on this one unfortunately.

Looking at the tracking it's what I might expect to see for an item from China that's got a customs charge. Have you had a grey card in the post?
