Special delivery help needed so stressed out!!

Hi,

Last Wednesday I got my dad to send an item of huge importance to me via special delivery. The only update I have is that is received at Sheffield MC at 2 In the morning last Thursday (21-09-21). It was suppose come by Thursday guaranteed for 1pm but there has been no update from the original item received at 2.54 on that Thursday. All it says is “in transit” and “ Your item has reached Sheffield MC and will now be sent to your local delivery office”. how likely is it that it’s lost? It’s driving me ballistic as it’s a very sentimental item and although I shouldn’t have had it sent via post normally special delivery is the most reliable service. I keep phoning the Royal Mail phone line but they can’t provide me with any further info apart from claiming my money back but the item is what I need. I asked if I could contact Sheffield MC but she said they clear everything out after 24 hours which fills me with dread. Is it likely it will turn up at some point or will I be able to see if it’s been passed to my local delivery office from the main Sheffield office? I’m worried sick atm :(((( praying it’s not lost feel so helpless
