UPS collection

Post by meldhadfield »

Hi , probably not the right place to post this but just wondering if someone can point me in the right direction. I had a package, which should have gone to a UPS collection centre but my wife accidentally posted it in our local post box. So naturally, Royal Mail will not deliver it, does any one know what would happen to it ? It does have a UPS tracking number on it but probably not much help. Any help appreciated as it has an item I really need to retrieve.

Royal Mail will probably surcharge the parcel , and then deliver it if the surcharge is paid

Theres a chance it might actually get delivered, or it might be held at the delivery office and a surcharge card will be delivered to the house with a fee to be paid for release. Thats if it gets as far as the delivery office, I don't know if the mail-centre has a procedure to return items back to UPS?

Yep it will probably get surcharged.

This is the procedure when an itèm enters the Royal Mail network without correct postage.

The recipient will get a card through their door telling them there is an item at their local delivery office with insufficient postage. They have to pay the postage and a fee, and it will then get delivered.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies guys, I doubt if the recipient will pay a surcharge as it was addressed Apple Corp. Just would be useful to know which sort office it would go to as they might be holding it.
Cheers

it would go to the nearest Mail Centre to the address on the packet if they have bulk deliveries, but most likely it would go to the nearest Delivery Office. If you remember the full address and Post code using >>>> https://www.royalmail.com/services-near-you#/ you may be able to find out which DO is their local one.
