i am convinced Pathway to change is about reducing the quality of service Royal Mail provides you have entire areas going without deliveries for days at a time, some towns not receiving a delivery (non strike action) ... surely to god Royal Mail can't claim to be delivering on the USO

I’m starting to believe this also. We all know Royal Mail are gunning to reduce letters to 5 days, could be the perfect excuse to axe Saturday letters. I’m certain the top union crew are in on this whole thing too.

We are a short time into our revision for the first half of the office.

It's working so far, because everyone is claiming Christmas levels of overtime. At least 1hr a day, 2-3hrs on Wed/Thurs.

What on earth happens at actual Christmas, or if people start finishing on time, I do. Not. Know.

RM are pouring money into a black hole with this fiasco.

So they contract us to a set time and then expect us to work an extra hour +........ no!

They want people to break down and leave? we already have issues with people leaving as they are fed up.

One aspect of our revision is very strange; 4 day weeks were on offer (29 hour contracts, every Weds/Thurs off).

However the start and finish times of the 4 days on those 29 hour contracts means you’re actually working 29 hours and 9 minutes. I’ve pointed this out to my line manager, she just looked confused at me and said it is what it is.

I tried to explain it means if you come in at the start time they’ve given, and finish at the finish time, you’re working 9 minutes a week for free. I don’t think she understood.

Either way, regardless of if it’s a minute or an hour, I don’t work for free. Nor am I booking 9 mins overtime!
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

It's not strange at all, it's pure incompetence. After our revision several of the full time rounds were anywhere between 15m and 35m over the 37 hours. I don't get how this isn't flagged up, surely a computer program is doing this? Anyway, people need to check their hours after revision, it's not a straightforward calculation if you're on long and shorts and a rotating day off, you need to have an average of 37 hours over 6 weeks.

The office was almost cleared last week but only by throwing 700 extra hours into the mix.
Apparently a director is due so it had to look good.
After 6 days I did manage to find my own parcel.
The director should have not notified them of an upcoming visit. They should have just turned up and seen the real picture
Unfortunately that director would probably have told his superior that apart from a few niggles everything is fine, and so the big fib continues.

I’ve never known a business work like this.
It really needs for the directors and other much higher ups to turn up at a random office with no advance warning whatsoever, but I doubt that'll ever happen
The system is set up so they warn they are coming - gives the office time to clear.hide or move any problems away - the boss comes along and they pat each other on the back and say what a great job you are doing. The simple fact is RM bosses just want an easy time and not see any issues so they can go away and tell their boss everything is fine - the lie goes way up the food chain to the very top.

The DDS even has a rota checker built in now so that who ever is populating the DDS ensures the hours worked average out to the contracted hours.

Best guess is that their bosses have ordered them to revert to the old duties till after New Years and then are to bring all the new duties back in

That does sound like Royal Mail. Kick the van down the road and hope things fix themselves, then be shocked to the core when it still doesn’t work after Xmas.

I think it was decided we just couldn't carry on like we were, some jobs were not great and have remained so but some were unreal and had to be changed back, for now at least

It is odd why these idiotic revisions were implemented, I wonder if we'll ever discover why? I may have missed it but are there any DOs where the revision was implemented well?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
