No updates since 31/8/21 - Rejected by Germany :(

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can help. I sent a parcel to Germany on 4/8/21 via International Tracked and Signed. There was an issue at customs (so the recipient didn't get it). But they still marked my parcel as delivered on the 18th. The recipient said they paid customs fees for it to be sent back. The last two updates I got was on 30/8/21 - which says 'Item has left the overseas International Processing Centre' and on 31/8/21 - 'Arrived at Delivery Office'. I haven't had any updates since. When Deutsche Post/ German customs send parcels back - do they use the same tracking number (given by Royal Mail) or apply a new one. Is my parcel lost or still on route to the UK. If you type the tracking on the Deustche Post website - it says 'The item was processed on 31.08.2021 at our Logistics Center in Frankfurt Flughafen'.

I have read some recent posts that countries in the EU (like Germany) have been rejecting and sending parcels back. Any insight on how long these parcels are taking to return to their senders. As mines coming up to a month since the last update :(

Seems strange that, I wouldn't expect the recipient to have to pay customs fees if it's been refused entry into Germany. What was the contents and what's the tracking number?

The recipient said something like - for it to enter Germany he had to pay. He also mentioned that I would have to pay customs fees when it returns to me.

Don't know what the normal procedure is for rejected parcels - from the UK>Germany.

Contents were - a paintball marker I was trying to get fixed. I did ask the paintball company if I had to do anything special with the parcel - they said just send it as normal. I guess Brexit added the extra new rules that would stop it from entering :(

Bit of a long shot but try asking the company to ask German customs the reason the item was refused entry. There's no guarantee that customs would say why its been refused

I personally don't think it has left Germany. In fact, I think it may be waiting at the German equivalent of our Delivery Office Customer Service Points.

I think the delivered scan on the 18th is erroneous, sometimes we get that in Royal Mail when someone scans the bar code in the wrong mode. That may be the point it was left at the local office waiting for Customs payment.

There will be no Customs payment for items being returned before they enter the country. If german customs rejected it, it would be returned without any charges.

It's a bit strange might be worth asking Royal Mail and Deutsches Post to investigate it.

I have already made a claim with Royal Mail on 22/9/21 and opened an international investigation with Deutsche Post last week.

RM said they will only compensate me £250 for the lost :(

What would the reason be for my parcel to be stuck in a Logistics Centre for this long?
