NEW 2021 XMAS - RM 48 vs RM 24 - 2nd Class Parcels vs 1st Class Parcels

Post by Business15 »

Yes its that time of the year again 2021 pre Xmas!

Can posties and business owners please shed some light on this:

Can you all please let me know your personal experiences with the performance of standard delivery confirmation service only:

RM 24 Large Letter: time frame please for delivery? (i have used this lately and found it to be quite reliable)
RM 48 Large Letter: time frame please for delivery? (my experiences in the last 2 weeks have been hit and miss anywhere from 3-6 days delivery)
1st Class Parcels Business: time frame please for delivery? (i do not use at the moment but i may use this xmas instead of Hermes Next Day)
2nd Class Parcels Business: time frame please for delivery? (i do not use at the moment as i use Hermes for Parcels)
1st Class Parcels non business: time frame please for delivery?
2nd Class Parcels non business: time frame please for delivery?

The problem i have with the Business Parcel service is that if it is not delivered compensation claims can take a long time to process and also can take up to 3 months (Hermes can take 1 week total) I would not mind if it was done within 1 month, can someone shed some light on the compensation process for Business 1st/2nd Class Parcels.

Thank you kindly.

Short answer, if you want it delivered promptly use the Tracked or special delivery services, 99.7% of the tracked will be delivered within the time frame advertised, 0.3% will be the day after, 100% of special delivery will be delivered as advertised ( subject to road closures acts of god etc)

We simply cannot afford to pay tracked prices for small items and if we needed to then it would be Hermes for the lower prices and the 1 week compensation, hence why we would love to know the answers above. Delivery confirmation is all ebay or amazon requires for proof of delivery, also i do believe these services now have a GPS location added as well as the delivery confirmation.

I personally prefer Royal Mail.

Thank you kindly.

1st and 2nd class parcels over christmas are generally 1-4 business days and are the parcels most likely to get left if we have mountains of things to deliver but only 4 hours to do it!

We aim for 99% of the qr codes being scanned on delivery but we do employ a lot of agency staff at that time of year so some may get missed.
Unlike hermes though they will get delivered which is why you pay extra for Royal mail services, we wont throw things over fences or leave out in the rain!

May I suggest you use a hybrid of standard and tracked (tracked for your higher value items), If you contact customer services I believe if you are posting x amount of items you get a reduced rate.

Just another note on Royal Mail, we can also collect all your parcels from you (for a small extra fee). All you need is click and drop and to print the postage label out.
