Hi,
can someone please help me, as I have been phoning many people over the past number of weeks, with no success on getting money back on goods I ordered from the USA, that a stand-in post man delivered to the wrong house.
I ordered some goods at the end of June from the USA, which I then paid a customs charge on, a few weeks later, and waited for the parcel arriving from the post man. After 5 days waiting, the parcel didn't arrive, so I phoned my local post office, and asked about where my parcel was, and was given the post man's first name, and how he had delivered it to a different address, as he was a temporary postman, and couldn't find my house.
Asking why he had delivered it to a different address, I was told they didn't know why.
After a few phone calls to Royal Mail, I was told they were investigating the incident, and the stand-in postman and the post master of the local post office where going to the house where the temporary post man had delivered the parcel, to try and get it back from the people who had got it.
After a wait of 5 days, I received an email, saying the Royal Mail were at fault for the package going missing and they apologised, and asked me to contact the International seller, to ask them to start the claim process to get my money back.
So after doing this, I was told by the shop who i bought the overseas goods from, that the US Postal Service wouldn't except claims for US First Class mail.
I phoned Royal Mail again, to check if i could find out the address of who had got my parcel, to possibly ask for it back myself, but was told it was being sent back to the USA, and the person I was talking to, didn't know why.
Because the Royal Mail have admitted it was the fault of the stand-in postman, and accepted they were in the wrong, is there no way I can get money back for what I bought, for their mistake?
Just want to say, that my usual postman does a great job, delivering my post, and the problem above, has only happened once, with this stand-in postman.
Thanks
Paul.

Re: help with getting money back on a parcel, the postman didn't deliver
Hard to say why any of this happened as i don't know the area or office. But i'd take what the delivery office told you with a pinch of salt.
This is not the first time i've read that international parcels become impossible to sort out as both sides blame the other. This issue isn't just related to RM/US but european parcel companies also.
Keep all the evidence you have, print it off to be safe.
The easiest and least hassle thing to do would be contact your credit card company for a chargeback/refund if the original shop don't play nice.
I'd hassle RM on the phone and the depot regularly for a refund of the VAT and holding charge also. Getting advice from CAB or moreso MSE forum may offer something. I don't think this will be easy for you, sadly.
Sorry i can't help anymore. It's just not a good situation, all be it made worse by RM.

this link may help https://www.royalmail.com/sites/default ... G_2019.pdf keep pushing it up the line, I can't promise anything but it gets serious when you get to stage 3 (but you can't jump the stages).
