Can a postie please explain the process...

Post by Business15 »

Hi there,

So i want to start using Royal Mail 48/2nd Class again, but im worried that it may take up to 7 days for it to be delivered?

Can RM 48 arrive at the customers house within 1 day like rm 24?

Can a honest postie please let me know the process on how you sort RM24/1st Class from RM48/2nd Class and do Large Letters get treated differently from Parcels?

I would prefer to only use Royal Mail for Large Letter sized items RM 48 with delivery confirmation barcode only.

Do you clear rm 24/1st class completely and then rm 48/2nd class large letters or parcels 1st? Also what happens if you get a backlog of rm24 vs rm 48, does only the rm 48 get delayed and put on hold?

Thank you kindly.

I am a Delivery Office Postie and all tracked items get treated the same way and on the same day, we don't separate 24 or 48. Once they have received a "Ready for delivery scan" beyond Force Majeure they should be delivered that day.

Hopefully, a Mail Centre will explain the Inwards and Outward process

As Teebs has said, what comes into the delivery office is due to go out that day, regardless of what service is used.
Rule of thumb is nothing is sepearated, if there is anything to be delayed it's usually letters.

MC''s push out as much as they can to us as once it's gone, it's gone for them
They usually clear everything except in extreem circumstances.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The difference between the 2 is when items are processed at the outward MC.

1C: Posted Day A, delivered Day B (24hrs time frame)
2C: Posted Day A, processed Day B, delivered Day C (48hrs time frame)

If i post my RM 48 large letters/parcels with delivery confirmation only at around 12pm instead of 4pm each day, will this make them more likely to travel faster through your network as i am posting them earlier and avoiding the other collections that mount up later on in the day?

Thanks.

I dont think so as generally the posties on delivery will collect from the 'last collection 1pm' postboxes and take it back to the delivery offices for the collection drivers to take with the 'last collection 5:30pm' postboxes.
