Bit worried

Post by Smushywoosh »

I sent a valuable package last Monday 19th April and there hasn't been any update since later that evening. The last status was that it was on it's way to Heathrow but no change since. It's going to the US and my buyer is getting antsy because there hasn't been any updates. Is this common? I've not got a good feeling at this point.

Tracking number is RN728488242GB, it was sent with International Tracked and Signed and latest update is 'Item Despatched to Heathrow Worldwide DC'

Any advice (or reassurances!) anyone has would be much appreciated! It is insured but last time I had a missing package it took months for claim to come through and it's a lot of money :pray

What's the contents? Sometimes the contents can cause problems with customs. A common issue is with lithium batteries

The crucial information is that it was last seen when the mail centre despatched it to Heathrow: this was only clear when I checked the tracking. Getting stuck so long at this stage is unusual. One possible reason for this is because of contents that are not allowed in the mail. To repeat Space Phoenix's question, what did you send?

The package contains 4 hardback books and is clearly marked as printed papers as per advice on the website so I don't think it should cause any issues in terms of contents.

It shouldn't. However that doesn't mean Customs don't have a legal right, and duty, to check your items. they take random batches of mail and do further checks on all items within that batch.

So while your item may be legal, safe and not on the banned list it does not mean it won't be checked.

That's completely fine of course I'm just not sure at this stage whether it has even got to Heathrow based on the tracking info. I'd have thought there would be another scan when it arrived?
