the 1 house i keep collecting from are picking the cheapest postage....says on the label upto 100grams.....im collecting shoebox size of them...
Shouldn't you be refusing to collect their items, if they are underpaying? I got to one house a few weeks back, and the PDA said I had a Small Parcel (upto 2kg) to collect. When I turned up, they had left so something in their Safe Place, half the size of back of the Combo van and would have needed a two man lift! There is an option on the PDA for incorrect service or something like that. They were out, do I left them a polite note that they had only paid for a Small Parcel to be posted.

maybe because its free ? and can the company afford to give a 2 month free service when they have no moneyShedend wrote: ↑30 Mar 2021, 10:17Why wouldn't they agree to it.worktotime wrote: ↑29 Mar 2021, 18:31its beyond me and desperate and did the CW WHO agree to this shite as well,

Re: Royal Mail offering collect your parcel for Free!
Its good practice to give a new service free of charge for a short time id rather pay the money then wait in line at the post office for ages, id have a charge for the collection not per item. More work can only be good for job security you cant have the CWU complaining about gaining/protecting jobs.worktotime wrote: ↑30 Mar 2021, 15:37maybe because its free ? and can the company afford to give a 2 month free service when they have no moneyShedend wrote: ↑30 Mar 2021, 10:17Why wouldn't they agree to it.worktotime wrote: ↑29 Mar 2021, 18:31its beyond me and desperate and did the CW WHO agree to this shite as well,

Its free but they still pay for postage, but I guess RM are not losing a cut to the Post Office and the bods at the top are not worried about our workload as long as there's more money coming in.
I have only had 3 or 4 since introduction so its not been any increase in work really, it could potentially be awkward on loops if I'm fully loaded.

Sounds like these customers might of found a loophole in this service, I wonder who's responsible for checking correct postage? and if RM are letting these through without charges because of the type of service they want to promote.goneaway wrote: ↑30 Mar 2021, 10:58centenaryman wrote: ↑29 Mar 2021, 20:05weve already got several regular customers using this now in our gaff.....ok not loads but quite a bit

Yeah but it's not a new service, it's a service they've been charging for for 6 months with virtually no uptake. So they think if they make it free (a loss leader, as it will cost the business money in overtime) people will flock to this service then continue when they start charging again? I very much doubt it.cpsteve wrote: ↑30 Mar 2021, 16:18Its good practice to give a new service free of charge for a short time id rather pay the money then wait in line at the post office for ages, id have a charge for the collection not per item. I've been told that RP aren't bothered about the weight of items, and what weight band or weight is printed on the label (and what is paid for it)sorefeet17 wrote: ↑30 Mar 2021, 16:48Sounds like these customers might of found a loophole in this service, I wonder who's responsible for checking correct postage? and if RM are letting these through without charges because of the type of service they want to promote.goneaway wrote: ↑30 Mar 2021, 10:58centenaryman wrote: ↑29 Mar 2021, 20:05weve already got several regular customers using this now in our gaff.....ok not loads but quite a bit

Re: Royal Mail offering collect your parcel for Free!
I have about ten that use it now with it being free i can see that number going up to 20 or more, if the charge was per collection rather then per packet i think it would be a massive success.rambo1 wrote: ↑30 Mar 2021, 19:02Yeah but it's not a new service, it's a service they've been charging for for 6 months with virtually no uptake. So you think it is a good idea for the CWU to refuse new work.cpsteve wrote: ↑30 Mar 2021, 16:18Its good practice to give a new service free of charge for a short time id rather pay the money then wait in line at the post office for ages, id have a charge for the collection not per item. Re: Royal Mail offering collect your parcel for Free!
I've seen some figures which shows how slow it has been.
Since RM introduced the service a 6 months ago we have collected 1 million parcels.
In comparison Hermes collected 10 million just in December alone.

Re: Royal Mail offering collect your parcel for Free!
I have heard similar when I have shown managers sample parcels. Have had a load of heavy glass mirrors come through in the last few weeks, they weight 1g apparently. Have a look at Crew Clothing parcels as well, their stuff never weighs more than 30/40 gram and they must be a big contract.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑30 Mar 2021, 19:18I've been told that RP aren't bothered about the weight of items, and what weight band or weight is printed on the label (and what is paid for it)
