Hi there,
I have a CCTV camera in a retail box that i need to send via Royal Mail.
Can you tell me which would be the most secure way to send this. I have heard some services require the postman to store the item in a locker for delivery the next day?
Is this Signed for or only Special Delivery before 1pm or both?
Thank you kindly.

Next day special delivery by 4pm (cause of Covid) is our Holy Grail of services.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

No, it goes with normal mail. And only gets scanned again when delivered/returned to the office if no one was in.Business15 wrote: ↑21 Mar 2021, 16:42Is 1st Class Signed for stored in a seperate locker for safety? Only Registered mail is treated separately.
Registered go in their own mail bags and into a secure area in the Delivery Office, from a secure area from the Mail Centre.
Rule of thumb for a postie, treat them like your own wallet or a Gold bar.

I have never sent it via Business Click and drop before, what should i mark on the label? Does it go in with 1st Class/24 bag? Or a seperate bag and tag?

Not 100% sure how the 'business' click and drop works, but registered mail would normally only go through the Post Office at a Post Office branch.Business15 wrote: ↑21 Mar 2021, 17:50Thank you, i will send it with this.POSTMAN wrote: ↑21 Mar 2021, 16:53No, it goes with normal mail. Normally i use a PPI Label on the Grey Mailsack for RM 1st Class or 24 - Does the Special Delivery label/parcel go inside this bag or a seperate grey mailsack?POSTMAN wrote: ↑21 Mar 2021, 18:09Not 100% sure how the 'business' click and drop works, but registered mail would normally only go through the Post Office at a Post Office branch.Business15 wrote: ↑21 Mar 2021, 17:50Thank you, i will send it with this.POSTMAN wrote: ↑21 Mar 2021, 16:53No, it goes with normal mail. Re: ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE!
The YouTube video explains how to label and dispatch the actual parcel, while the second page on the pdf deals with bags and how to label

Grey bags are fine.

Re: ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE!
Hi thank you for your reply.
I do not have a dispatch book, i think that is outdated from 2015?
I usually print all my own labels from Click and Drop.
So do i just print the label then put it inside a Grey mailbag with no ppi label? Then print the manifest?
Thanks again!

Re: ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE!
Sorry I’m far from an expert and I think the lack of information on the Royal Mail website is because the the company want to push businesses to use its Tracked 24 product.
....what I took from the guides is that you should address and label your parcel appropriately, which should include a special delivery barcode (this can either be a sticker or one you’ve printed out with your order).
Then you place the item in a grey bag separate to other types of mail. If a driver collects from you seal the bag, if you take your mail to a post office leave the bag open so they can scan your special delivery barcode.
I guess your point of contact (either the collection driver or post office clerk) can advise whether they need any other documentation, so keep it to hand?
I can say say that when a grey bag reaches me in a secure locker I’m only interested in the special delivery barcode and address on the item, not any paperwork.
Ps Mondays and Tuesdays are RM/post office busiest days and I would avoid posting on those days

Re: ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE!
Apparently it is possible to send Special Delivery items via the Consumer Collect service where the customer prints out their own postage label. I don't know whether that service is of use to you.
The views I express here are mine alone and do not represent the views of Royal Mail Group.
