Hi
The Intercom on our building is broken, it is with the council to fix but when that will be done is like asking how long is a piece of string. Currently the doors are unlocked but any signs we put up the council removes. I have had 3 failed delivery attempts from the parcels team saying address inaccessible, other residents have also the same issue. There are about 400 flats in our block so this could build up a backlog quite quickly.
I rang the customer service line and explained the situation to them and asked for them to inform the delivery office but we are still having failed deliveries. Literally the door just needs to be pulled and it will open but getting this message to the person who needs to know is proving to be more difficult than hoped.
I have since rung customer service back to see if there was anything as residents we could do to make the delivery persons job easier, offering to provide one of our fobs so the driver would be able to access the building or a mobile to ring so someone can go down and let delivery driver in, but they didnt want to do any of these.
Is there anything we can do to make the route easier to do so that the parcels delivery drivers can still deliver whilst we are waiting for the council to fix the intercom?
As I said I would gladly lend one of our access fobs to parcels team so they access the estate, as we along with several others are currently shielding (I've literally only been outside 6 times in the last year) so unfortunately we cant just go to the delivery office to collect the parcels even though I can see it from my window.

A fob would be best, we hate being given phone numbers to ring (or at least i do).

Firemans key? That's what we use round my way. Easily available on Ebay or Amazon
Interesting though, 400 flats and nothing has been sorted, I'll just leave that there.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

fiinn - in the situation you describe its probably best to speak to the local depot manager (Delivery Office) and liaise with them. The call centres don't have any idea how we do the work on the ground, and each office is different so I am not surprised.
A key fob, and local written agreement, if the manager finds this acceptable, is probably the easiest way to sort it, but there may be security and covid concerns.

Thank you for the suggestions, can you please advise on what would be the best way to contact the manager of the local delivery office.
I have looked online and all the phone numbers seem to have been changed to generic central numbers.

Go in to the callers office, where you collect your parcels is the best bet.
Or possibly a dear John letter and hand it in with all the details.
Have to say, they do seem a bit thick over there in North London.
