Wrong postcode right address - how long of a delay should I expect?

Post by Grzegorz »

Hi folks,

I recently bought something online but like a fool I didn't check to see what the autofill information was putting in.

It has the right address in its entirety, and the first three digits of the post code are correct.

I did some searching here and people seemed to think that if these things were right it should end up at the right place at some point.

My was supposedly dispatched on the 29th of Jan (shipping cost me £1.90 so no idea if it was first or second class, likely a large letter or small parcel) and while I appreciate that there are currently delays, I would just like to know how long I should wait before I start to worry.

Many thanks, and keep up the good work.

There are still some delays but they are reducing now. I think Royal Mail won't accept an item is lost till 15 days have elapsed so I would give it will Monday and then start chasing them up on twitter @RoyalMailHelp

Thank you very much TrueBlueTerrier, so am I right in thinking that it won't be too much of an issue that the postcode was only half right?

I am not looking to give RM a hard time over this, as much as I am just wanting to have an idea of expectations.

All the best,

Greg

No, if the first part of the postcode is correct it will get to the right area, and then they sort by address rather than postcode. There may be a slight delay but it shouldn't stop it being delivered if the rest of the address is okay.
