National Returns Centre

Post by Janewhelan »

I've just found out my parcel of Christmas presents that I sent to my son in Australia is heading to the National Returns Centre. I'm assuming this is because one of the items was a bottle of aftershave, which I've only just discovered is prohibited :(((
I'm just wondering if am likely to ever see the parcel again? Will it all get destroyed or will the 'permitted' items get returned to me? There were sentimental items also in the parcel also that I'd be so very sad to loose. Any help on what my happen to it would be appreciated, I'm so sad and worried :((

On here we can't for certain what will happen. However if you included a return address on the outside, or inside then the chances of items being returned increases (but is not guaranteed).

You can also increase the chances by contacting Royal Mail Customer Services direct and describing the issue, hopefully then can help, but again its not 100% that anything will be returned.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Do you know how i contact Royal Mail Customer Service? I've tried using the phone line but haven't found a route to actually speak to anyone, there only seems to be automated options. I've also tried emailing: customer.service.team@royalmail.com but have just had an automated reply saying that they've suspended email customer service during Covid due to high demand.
Thanks so much

You could try twitter @royalmailhelp

If so describe the issue but don't include the tracking number, they will ask for a DM with an address and the tracking number. Apart from that its a case of keep trying the call centre.

Not allowed to collect personally from national return centre. it will be returned to you if you have a return address on package.

The exact same happened to me this Christmas.I also felt very sad and disappointed after all the effort to search for the right presents especially considering the box and weights limitations. Parcel was returned to me by special delivery and was intact, the aftershave is prohibited on International flights and not UK wide flights.
