Re: THE PATHWAY TO CHANGE!
End of the day, we all have a start and finish time. If you work at a fair pace, why grumble about getting 3.7% more for doing it? Nobody is saying you have to work harder. Paid breaks are still there. So whats the problem?

Re: THE PATHWAY TO CHANGE!
If your office hasn't got a rep get one ASAP ...
The rep is Going to be a key part in this agreement especially with the revision side.
You don't want the Dom doing it all by himself SHAFTED comes to mind.

Re: THE PATHWAY TO CHANGE!
I can never understand posties arguing against a reduction in hours , absolute madness , let Royal Mail worry about the work load and completing, that’s what the revisions are for .JKSmudge wrote: ↑25 Dec 2020, 21:58Why are the leadership so obsessed with securing a reduction in hours? Many walks were just about doable at 39 hours, now 38 and they want us to cram it into 37 with a huge increase in parcels/packets and it seems RM want to increase D2D too.
Whatever happens, not everyone will be happy, but as shown from the comments, some people are never happy....As for the argument about ' it's only 3.7% over 2 years ', It is 2.7% then another 1% in April followed by 2.63% ( think I've worked that out correctly) with the hour off. That makes 6.455% between now and October.

Re: THE PATHWAY TO CHANGE!
Your just as likely to get shafted by your union rep , believe me our office trusts our manager more than our rep .

Better off using the area rep while we still have them. RM, in short, want rid of Area Reps as they're less easy to bully, influence and undermine that some poor c*** who is left to the screws' tender mercies every day. I've seen the most outrageous local agreements pushed through past an inexperienced/compromised office rep and that is what RM are hoping for.

Re: THE PATHWAY TO CHANGE!
This isn't a great agreement. Royal Mail get pretty much everything that they want from this, but with the current union leadership more interested in party politics than representing their members I wasn't expecting anything better.
What would happen if we reject the agreement? Send Laurel and Hardy back into negotiations to come back with an even worse deal in a couple of years, or else vote for an all-out strike which could last months. The odd day on strike really wouldn't achieve anything.
I dislike the agreement but will vote in favour of accepting it because, in this case, a terrible deal is actually better than no deal. I could imagine RM simply imposing the changes along with a 1% pay rise and no reduction in the working week.
Vote for the agreement but let's get rid of Laurel and Hardy before the next negotiations are due. We need leaders who know what they are doing.

Re: THE PATHWAY TO CHANGE!
Exactly the situation in our office. Rep is the DOM's lacky, in fact the DOM is so weak a lot of changes are created by the rep. When the SWW was included in the pay deal the rep told everyone to vote yes as a no-brainer and that he would get the whole hour taken off of the finish time on a Saturday.Sir Henry wrote: ↑26 Dec 2020, 12:25Better off using the area rep while we still have them. and we all know the reason why they do it off the start , because the company know that the loonies that start early for freemickeymacca wrote: ↑26 Dec 2020, 10:47The mismanagement of the indoor work in my DO adds unnecessary excess to many duties. It's the main part of the job that management should be on top of because they can directly see and influence how the process works, unlike delivery (PDA's aside). It seems the more conscientious workers stick to the workplan while the management avoid confrontation with those who flout it or are inflexible from deviating from their originally delegated task. IMO there are easy time savings to be made in this area, whether that is negated by the additional outdoor work is another matter, another 10 minutes or so in bed would be good though, surely...JKSmudge wrote: ↑25 Dec 2020, 21:58Why are the leadership so obsessed with securing a reduction in hours? Re: THE PATHWAY TO CHANGE!
Well they're idiots.....and I'm pretty sure they won't change with the introduction of clocking in machines.....extra 12 minutes in bed or at the gym for me, happy days. If you have got the time in your work life balance as a FTer to work 38 hours now, then why would working 37 hours and picking up 1 hour of overtime during the course of a week to essentially complete the same amount of hours (38) be an issue going forward, when the reduction is implemented? And for that your pay will increase by £12 or so a week......where is the problem?
