Special Delivery meltdown. Any idea what's going on?

Post by Dj9928 »

So I sent an item special delivery Monday, as off today Wednesday tracking shows it's not even left the post office. Checked Twitter and loads of people all with the same complaint, special delivery items posted Saturday and Monday that have not left the post office. Tried phoning RM can't get through and no reply on Twitter. What's the issue? VE838057956GB

Can you share the tracking number?

I had an issue with an item posted Saturday into BD17. Posted Saturday PM so delivery not due to yesterday. Scanned delivered yesterday AM but recipient didn't have (is an apartment building with concierge).

Called Royal Mail on phone - you can get through, FYI we had to wait 45 minutes on hold - they told us that yesterday's delivery scan was an error (but didn't elaborate) and that it was out for delivery today. In the end it arrived just before noon today, I will file a claim for a refund of postage paid.

So - you can get through if you have time and persevere. Others have said Twitter is a good option.

I added the tracking number to end of original post. Yeah I waited 30 mins today and gave up.

My guess (and it's only that) is that it's been collected but that it's moving through the network without scans. It may well still be holed up at the Northern Ireland Mail Centre.

Maybe try sending a DM on Twitter and be sure to claim a refund of postage when it does arrive.

Yes, lots of angry Special Delivery queries on Twitter tonight.

Looks like it was caught in a back log as its moving today https://parcelsapp.com/en/tracking/VE838057956GB

you will still be able to claim for late delivery though.
