Oh that's right, they are too busy working on their social media image and blowing important strike action with their crap.sindba wrote: ↑08 Dec 2020, 18:46It might be unfair, but blame your employer, not the "union".SF wrote: ↑08 Dec 2020, 07:09Totally unfair. Everybody else works 3 days Xmas week with a day off and boxing day, meanwhile people who's day off falls on boxing Day are working a 4 day week and have nothing to show for having to work an extra day. And someone can get paid for working their day off that week also!
Brainless union.

Re: 26th December
So I assume everyone would be a lot happier if they made the 26th a normal service day? All those who work nights can go back to work on Christmas Day night. Obviously it would ruin Christmas for a lot of us but at least it would be fair, right?

Re: 26th December
This problem will persist next year with Christmas Day falling on a Saturday in 2021.
Oh, and New Year's Day 2022 also a Saturday

Re: 26th December
The union wouldn't get anywhere with this, the majority of the workforce is effectively getting a free bank holiday, if the union challenges this there is more chance of none of us getting this in the future.
Any of us that have worked here for a while have been affected positively and negatively by this.

Just give your employees a day in leui for Christ sake. It's not that difficult. We work hard during Xmas, even more so during a pandemic.Zicomurphy wrote: ↑08 Dec 2020, 20:52So I assume everyone would be a lot happier if they made the 26th a normal service day? Keep the work force happy by not short-changing them a day off. It's basic stuff.

Basic stuff that would cost the business well over £1 million I would imagine.SF wrote: ↑09 Dec 2020, 17:17Just give your employees a day in leui for Christ sake. It's not that difficult. I’ve got the Saturday off that week. I don’t feel that I’m missing out or being treated unfairly. Royal Mail have made a business decision that benefits the majority of the workforce whilst having no negative impact on the remaining minority.

Of course it’s right! Have we learnt nothing? It’s what they do,we really shouldn’t expect anything less should we?another morale bashing exercise, they never fail to deliver on things that that know won’t go down well with the troops at the sharp end,and as ever they aren’t fussed about it one bit!

Re: 26th December
I can see both sides of views to this, BUT....Royal Mail have requested to OFCOM that Saturday will be a Non Service Day. This means we all spend the day with our loved ones while still receivng a full days pay for it. There would have been nothing stopping them making us all work...and still get the same money.
For those thinking they're hard done by, spare a thought for the retail stores who WILL have to work Saturday for their money, whilst we enjoy it at home.

When would we ever have worked boxing day ? Has it not always been a public holiday and you get paid for it or day in lieu if its your day off ?
Just to confirm are we now off Saturday and the Monday ?

We are off Friday, Saturday and Monday, boxing day isn't a public holiday because it is a Saturday, Monday is the public holiday

If you work night shift then you'll be off Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. On the Monday going into Tuesday you'll be back in at midnight

I told you SpacePhoenix that I will not be working the Bank Holiday Monday and nor will any of the Night Shift at my mail centre.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑10 Dec 2020, 06:55If you work night shift then you'll be off Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. The only staff working normally are those that would attend on a Sunday night usually , and overtime volunteers though nothing has been posted up concerning this.

Re: 26th December
ALL night shifts are required to resume on the Monday going into Tuesday. Most places will use volunteers but if not enough volunteer then they'll either have to chose some to come in or have everyone in. On the Monday night, one it gets to 00:00 on the Tuesday it's no longer a Bank Holidaytractorboy2 wrote: ↑10 Dec 2020, 07:07I told you SpacePhoenix that I will not be working the Bank Holiday Monday and nor will any of the Night Shift at my mail centre.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑10 Dec 2020, 06:55If you work night shift then you'll be off Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. EDIT: http://www.cwu.org/wp-content/uploads/2 ... .10.20.pdf
3.8To comply with the USO, Inland night shift operations should resume as required on Monday 28thDecember and Friday 1stJanuary (Saturday 2ndJanuary in Scotland) to meet service obligations. Staff required to attend within conditioned hours on Monday 28thDecember or on Friday 1stJanuary (Monday 4thJanuary in Scotland) will receive the Bank Holiday premium for each hour worked on the Bank Holidays. Where agreed night shift resourcing arrangements result in attendance beyond conditioned hours, staff will receive normal Bank Holiday rates (option A or B as appropriate) for the additional hours worked on the Bank Holiday (before Midnight) and normal overtime rates for hours worked out-with the Bank Holiday (after midnight).

The same could be said for other bank holidays and we don't work them either.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑10 Dec 2020, 07:27ALL night shifts are required to resume on the Monday going into Tuesday. Does your mail centre still do Sunday nights ?
