I posted a valuable item on the 10th November, paid extra for full insurance and it was sent International tracked. I’ve sent items to Canada before but this was before Coronavirus and it took around 7 days. This was also a tracked item but there was no tracking once it got to Canada for some reason
When I type the tracking number in it leads me to Canada Post which then says the following message “
“International item has left originating country and is en route to Canada
Last updated: Nov. 11”
I’ve had some people tell me mixed messages that the item is probably in Canada but won’t update on the tracking until it’s delivered, it’s still on the way to Canada ( longest flight of all time ?) or it could be in customs for months.
It is an important item and not something you can just replace. I was wondering what the time frame should be considering the time of year and current circumstances. What could be going on? Any help appreciated !

It would be useful to know what the last tracking point is on the Royal Mail website. This should be more specific than the one you posted above.

Also, note the message on RM's International Bulletin page:
All mail being sent from the UK to Canada is facing severe delays because of the on-going impact of COVID-19 and record volumes of traffic being received in Canada. We are processing the mail as normal in the UK, but delays are taking place once the mail reaches the Canadian border. As a result, we are unable to advise on likely delivery times.
