Thank you! And a query...

Post by ElleJ »

Thanks so much for the opportunity to put questions to RM pros, much appreciated. :wave

I totally understand that Covid is impacting delivery times, but I’m concerned that some items I posted have got lost...
I posted four condolence cards in Bath on 22 October to different addresses in the UK (two in in Bath) and none of them have arrived yet. They are obviously sentimental value only and not tracked. I’ve always found RM so reliable, even during the first lockdown, and don’t think I’ve ever had anything lost before.

My question: is there much likelihood these items might still arrive, or could they be lost?

its is still possible that they are caught up in a back log. About 2 or 3 weeks before you sent them Royal Mail in Bath had its first case of Coronavirus https://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communi ... th#p917865 so its possible they are still having issues with self isolating etc.

I think the chances that they will turn up is higher than 50/50 but not 100% of course.

I do hope they turn up OK.

Thank you, @TrueBlueTerrier. It must be very difficult for them. I’ve had a few more very delayed bits of post since, so I’m wondering if it’s a good idea to track everything important at the moment?

For anything valuable/sentimental I always send "Special Delivery", for anything cheap to replace I send normal post (or may be recorded/Signed for). Anything else I do send tracked as they are scanned at specific points during their processing.
