Royal Mail & Post NL tracking not matching up

Post by ironmonkey »

Hi guys,

just wondering whether it is normal for there to be a delay with the tracking number on RM website to reflect what has been tracked at Post NL?

for example for some days now the last update on post NL website is " arrived in the country of destination"

However on RM the tracking still shows "Netherlands, Item Leaving overseas".

from doing some googling and looking at others who have posted their tracking from Post NL to the UK the time stamp for " arrived in the country of destination" and post NL and "LANGLEY HWDC, United Kingdom, Item Received" (which is the next step on RM after "item leaving overseas") have the same data and time stamp.

this to me tells me that its the same scan for Post NL when reporting that it has arrived in the country of destination as when it reaches Langley?

So question is, is it normal for royal mail side to update the tracking info many days later while retaining the original time stamp when it actually arrived in Langley days before?

It's probably stuck in customs. It wouldn't be unusual for things to get stuck in customs for 3-4 weeks pre-covid.

RM won't have access to it to be able to scan it until customs have released it to them

Ah I see, just strange how post nl show it as delivered to destination country where as rm show it as dispatched from NL.

Other examples of tracking for post NL TO UK I have seen via Google search shows the same time stamp as when the parcel arrived in Langley is the same of that reported arrived in destination country on post nl tracking.

To me this looks like the same scan point for Langley?

Also do RM tracking update on weekends for international shipments or typically during the week?

Most countries don't provide a tracking update when the item arrives at the destination country. Royal Mail don't. I don't think RM's tracking is configured to recognise these tracking points.

RM's tracking will update when your item clears customs.
