Any way to check if I need to pay import fees?

Post by JustDontGiveAHuck »

I ordered a parcel from Ebay last month from a seller in the US for around £30. Unlike my previous orders from the US customs/import fees were not included in the price by Ebay. My parcel has now been at HWDC for over two weeks and I've received nothing telling me I have to pay any fees or tax. I was wondering if there is any way to check if I have outstanding fees for this package, or if there is some other issue?
Thanks

If the value of the item (excluding P&P) is over £18 then you will need to pay import VAT, plus the £8 handling fee, see

https://www.royalmail.com/sites/default ... n-2017.pdf

Other uses on here have reported delays to inbound mail at HWDC.

Thanks. It's definitely above the threshold for VAT. Is there any way to pay the charges without having to wait for the delivery of the grey card, or to prompt getting a grey card delivered? Tomorrow is 21 days since arrival at Langley, and there's been no word of anything in that time.

No afraid there isn't. Customs have various options who they send it through so you may pay Royal Mail but we might not be selected by Customs to deliver it.

You may be able to pay HRMC but I am sorry we don't have any links.
