NULL written in address in overdue parcel address

I had a package delivered this week with the word NULL written in address. The package was missing for a couple of months and only showed up now. Is NULL a machine code or error?

It's probably what the sender put down for the address, did the sender have the correct address? Any indication that it might have gone via the National Return Centre in Belfast?

No it just took 3 months to arrive. Would the error have delayed the machine s reading the address?

Not all parcels are sorted by machine. Was it sent from within the UK or abroad?

When the sender is typing in an adress they type NULL in those boxes that they have nothing to type into just to fill it. It shows that no part of the address was missed out, some software won't allow an empty box ifyouknaaworrimean?

"NULL" in an address wouldn't cause a delay, in fact I see it daily. As long as the Post Code and 1st line of the address are clear we can normally deliver it. A 3 month delay from a Uk address is unusual, but from overseas not so much during Covid.
