Tracking Number has not updated since 31/10/2020 and drop off location is wrong in the system

Post by MRWOOD12345 »

hi, I am hoping someone can help.I am feeling quite desperate as this was quite a valuable item.

I dropped off item on 31st October at Abbey Wood and Thamesmead at 09.46am on Saturday.
Royal Mail 48 Click and drop medium parcel.

I asked for a receipt but the postmaster said that the scan was proof and that I wouldnt receive a certificate of posting.
Unfortunately the tracking number has shown no movement on the parcel. and even though I dropped it off at Abbey Wood and Thamesmead, it is showing as Greenwich DO.
My concern is that I don't have a certificate of postage as they didn't give them to me, he mentioned that the scan was my proof.
I phoned Royal Mail customer services on Saturday and they said I should call click and drop.
I am eligible to claim for a refund on Wednesday coming up 11th November.
Is it possible that the item is still on its way? or is it lost? In which case if it is lost, what proof do I have? Could I get CCTV footage showing that I dropped it off?
TN045405840GB
Going to TN12 5AP
I purchased it on online and printed out the barcode at home. The Post office advised they couldnt take it so I had to use the local DO instead.

As I write RM's tracking page is down so I can't look for you.

When you left it at 'Abbey Wood and Thamesmead' you mean the delivery office yes? edit: Just read at the end you said that.
Why did the post office not take it, was it the post office in Eynsham drive?

I am confused as to why and how the DO has taken it.

Aside from that, there are delays in the system due to Covid and possibly at TN12's delivery office as well.

The PO don't accept these except where it is a home shopping return. Another example:

Thanks everyone. My concern is that I don't have the certificate of posting that I would normally get at a post office. The chap at Thamesmead (nathan way) said that the " scan" was proof.
This is a click and drop 48 hours bought online that the post office won't take.
I called click and drop and they referred me back to Royal Mail customer service. Unfortunately the wait to talk to someone is over an hour at the moment.
If I know that the scan is regarded as proof of that would set my mind at ease

Thank you. Would the fact that it is showing as with the Greenwich DO be my proof in the case of a lost claim?

For some weird arse reason even though you gave the item to Abbey Wood/Thamesmead it was scanned in at Greenwich which doesn't make sense.
But still, it has now probably left Greenwich and is on it's way to TN's office or is sitting in TN's office waiting to be delivered. Either way contract is now broken and you should be entitled to get a refund.
And chances are it will be delivered but obviously who knows when.
Next stop Twitter I think...

Thanks for the help guys- appreciate it. It is is really odd, that it was dropped off at Thamesmead but shown as Greenwich DO. When I spoke to customer services they couldn't understand it either. They told me to call Click and Drop who couldn't help.
It was worth a £150 so would be a shame to lose.
The reason why I chose Royal Mail 48 is that the insurance is up to £100.
Will the fact that it has been scanned be proof enough though? Ordinarily for a compensation claim I need to upload a scan of the certificate of posting which I don't have.
It is a really big parcel ( medium size) so It wont be at the bottom of someones bag.
