Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy!
I have a parcel coming from USA to UK which was posted on the 3rd July.
Last USPS tracking shows: 2020-07-10 15:29
UNITED KINGDOM, LONDON, Departed -> Your item departed a transfer airport in HEATHROW, LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM on July 10, 2020 at 3:29 pm. The item is currently in transit to the destination.
Everything prior to that was normal and as expected from USPS.
When I checked this number in the Royal Mail tracking system for the first time around the 7th/8th, it told me it was already collected last year from Bethnal Green DO. https://imgur.com/a/gB2tHi9
I just assumed that as tracking numbers are inevitably reused this one might have just not been scrubbed properly or something.
Here is the updated tracking from Royal Mail which corresponds to my USPS tracking info (eg not the parcel delivered last year) https://imgur.com/a/o4TM8o7
I just assumed there was a customs delay and kept checking the tracking every few days. However yesterday the tracking updated for the first time in 20 days.
However the tracking says Bethnal Green DO attempted delivery? https://imgur.com/a/JyaJCNx Which just cannot be right surely? The parcel is definitely addressed to myself as it's from a good
When I look on track17 which gives full dates I can see that the most recent tracking is definitely from yesterday whereas the other tracking was definitely from 2019 https://imgur.com/a/07IiFa1
Anyone have any ideas as to what is going on here? Or if there is anything I can/should do to follow up on this?

USA > UK: No update since 8th July until apparently attempted delivery in wrong DO?
Apparently this item is is a total mystery to Royal Mail. Some people are telling me it's definitely addressed to someone in Bethnal Green, even when I've sent them proof of the USPS shipping label from the sender 
Even though the Royal Mail agent on the phone admitted it was obviously a RM system issue and not the fault of USPS or sender they still said they cannot do any investigation unless it's started by USPS. I cannot find anywhere to do this though, or is this something the seller has to do? It's very confusing why RM can't look into a parcel they have admittedly lost.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Or have any ideas what I should do next, because as it stands I've basically just been told noone has any idea where it is or why it's not arrived.

For anyone else who might be in a similar boat, this parcel finally arrived on the 20th of October.. After both tracking numbers had been deleted so I could no longer track.
The parcel had definitely never been to Bethnal Green and my name/address was on the parcel the whole time. Was very frustrating dealing with RM staff who kept telling me the seller had 100% made a mistake
So over 3 months without an update but I still ended up with the parcel in my hand
