Package from China - heading for wrong address - 'ITEM IN RM SALES ORDER' ?

I have a parcel from China bought through AliExpress on the way (yeah, I know...).

Unusually I was given an RM tracking number for the UK end of the journey (which doesn't usually happen so my suspicion was tweaked immediately), but on checking it out on the RM site it *seemed* legitimate enough. After a day or two I got the 'We're expecting it' box on the RM tracking page and all seemed to be going smoothly. Then it went to the legendary Atherstone RDC, where it sat for a couple of days until this morning.

Now, it has gone to my 'local delivery office' at Southend-On-Sea for delivery some time today.

Which is great... only I live in Manchester.

I checked AliExpress' own tracking and it claims 'ITEM IN RM SALES ORDER'. I can't find a descriptor for this notification anywhere, so could anyone enlighten me as to what this might mean?

Providing I haven't simply been ripped off by the seller or they've just sent it to the wrong address, is it possible they have a UK warehouse/distribution centre/bloke in a back bedroom in Southend On Sea who posts it on to me in Manchester, and there's nothing to worry about, and RM is simply the unwitting middleman in this procedure?

I realise this is something I'll have to sort out with the seller if it comes to it, but I thought it would be simpler to ask here first.

Sometimes mail arrives in warehouses where new tracking numbers get added before they get handed over to Royal Mail. Possibly you've been given the wrong tracking number

Ta for replying. So 'Item in RM sales order' isn't an official RM designation for anything then?

It does all seem like a weird chain of events - normally I just wait the usual 2-4 weeks and suck up the associated silence, and stuff turns up eventually.

I think either the sender has given you the wrong tracking number or they've put the wrong address on it. My gut feeling is that it's down to a wrong tracking number. Contact the seller to confirm both the tracking number and the address it was sent to are correct

Yep, it looks like it, especially seeing as AliExpress's own tracking now says it still hasn't reached the UK yet.
Will check with the seller just to be certain.
