Masks

Post by Woody Guthrie »

Without being specific I recently spent 14 hours in full PPE, that's mask, visor, apron and gloves and although it wasn't the most comfortable day in my life it wasn't particularly difficult, it really made me understand how we automatically revert to childhood and the stampy feet thing when we're told to do something we don't want to do.

There are very few genuine medical conditions that would make mask wearing impossible but if you have one fair enough, if not grow the f**k up.

Anyone not wearing a mask, exemption or no exemption, if they're asymptomatic then they're going to be spreading covid around. If someone with breathing problems then catches covid as a result, it could potentially kill them. Would you rather they spread covid around?

It is as transmissible as the common cold and as deadly as the hong kong flu https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hong_Kong_flu" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; this is not a killer of the whole human race but a deadly cold virus for some but not all. Wearing the same face mask for weeks or different shopping trips could spread the virus and do more harm than good, As to your assertion we should condemn those who do not sheath their face for your own fantasies or physiological deficiency's is ludicrous I was not born with mask nor shall I departed from this earth with a mask!

Well then if a member of your family dies from covid through an asymptomatic person not wearing a mask spreading covid, don't come looking for sympathy, you won't get any

More people have died from preventable illness ie cancer heart/strokes and accidents than will ever die of Covid 19 or just another flu/cold virus as one hundred years ago people just died in the street they did not give a virus a fancy name and portray it as the end of the world as we know it!

When it comes to masks we have to accept the law. But, what has been very poorly decided is to allow shop workers NOT to wear them. They should be leading by example, apart from the extra protection for both employee and customer.

jacinda ardern did and she did not destroy NZ as we know it!
And I can name a few more:

President Tsai Ing-wen
  • Country: Taiwan (Republic of China)
  • Population: 23,821,316
  • Cases: 479
  • Deaths: 7
  • Deaths per 1 million of population: 0.3
Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir
  • Country: Iceland
  • Population: 341,471
  • Cases: 1,955
  • Deaths: 10
  • Deaths per 1 million of population: 29
Prime Minister Sanna Marin
  • Country: Finland
  • Population: 5,541,628
  • Cases: 7,568
  • Deaths: 331
  • Deaths per 1 million of population: 60
Prime Minister Erna Solberg
  • Country: Norway
  • Population: 5,425,586
  • Cases: 9,568
  • Deaths: 256
  • Deaths per 1 million of population: 47
Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen
  • Country: Denmark
  • Population: 5,794,334
  • Cases: 14,442
  • Deaths: 617
  • Deaths per 1 million of population: 106
Chancellor Angela Merkel
  • Country: Federal Republic of Germany
  • Population: 83,811,990
  • Cases: 216,878
  • Deaths: 9,261
  • Deaths per 1 million of population: 110
Along with New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern (deaths per 1 million of population: 4), the one thing all the leaders in the above list have in common is this: They acted early and they acted tough.

Oh, and they're all women.

Now compare the above list with this sh*thole country:

Prime Minister Boris the Knobhead
  • Country: United Kingdumb
  • Population: Mostly idiots
  • Cases: A lot. Really, a lot.
  • Deaths per 1 million of population: 686 (too goddamn much!)
SO WEAR AN EFFING MASK! :evil/mad

A mask only covers the problem in that we import the virus social distancing had a dramatic effect but we did not lock the airports down in April may and June if we had done so in February and march we would have had 20,000 to 30,000 less deaths. A mask 4 months to late will not solve this or any problems in the world for we will import this virus again and again forever more we have to live with this virus for that is what it is, If you want to ware a face mask for the rest of your live go ahead for the virus will not go away I don't castigate anyone for wearing one it is their choice. As someone who has scientific knowledge I cannot see how these masks or face coverings will stop the spread of this or any virus common cold type or even mitigate it's prevalence in the population of the world.

So in that case why do doctors and dentists bother wearing masks? :cuppa

Depends on the mask if your talking surgical type it is to stop bodily fluids N95 type will stop most ingress and egress of small partials it still will not stop RNA which is half the size of DNA strands. Full on respirator with oxygen supply the is the gold standard if I was told this case was ebola or any airborne virus i would say this is a good default position. As for cheep masks they just clutter the drains as for face coverings we man has been on this planet for nearly 200,000 years if face coverings work since then we would all be born with them and the common cold is sill with us just another name covid19.

Masks and gloves must help but the single most important thing is to wash your hands and gloves if you use them no point in wearing a mask if you take it of and dont wash your hands or gloves. Its spread the same as a cold and we all know how they go through an office so wash hands try not to be face to face if you are be two metres apart dont share cups etc. If we all keep washing hands and being a bit more careful then there is no reason we cant contain the virus. The mass gatherings have been a disgrace football fans music events protests they have all given the virus a good chance to spread.
