I have sent my diploma in a small envelope to the UK from Turkey. My item left Turkey on 29.07 and the status says "in transit: This item is now leaving the originating country. More information will be available when it arrives in the UK."
It left Turkey more than a week ago. Why does it take so long to be scanned in the UK? Is it lost? Is it stuck in the customs? Or is this an expected delay due to the virus and lack of staff? Should I be worried? Since it is the original of the diploma, it is very important. What can I do to learn what happened to it? How can I accelerate thr process? Please give me some advice. I can share the reference number if it'll be helpful.

It is probably stuck in customs. Items are selected at random for extra checks, so clearance time is variable. There is no way of checking this or speeding things up.

How long does this extra check usually take? Package only includes diploma and the diploma supplement.Snaggletooth wrote:It is probably stuck in customs. Items are selected at random for extra checks, so clearance time is variable. There is no way of checking this or speeding things up.

The amount of time that the checks takes is variable. Take a look at other posts on this site, people have reported all sorts of different lengths of time.
The contents aren't very relevant to the length of time. The main factor seems to be the length of the queue of items waiting to be dealt with, and probably the level of checking that it will receive.
