When I reminded an agency worker today, who attempted to work in a seg beside me, that the social distancing was still in force, she said that it had changed now!
The following two updates illustrate how confusion has arisen on the social distancing measure.
The first giving diagrams of how bullrings, conveyors, etc, should be set up to allow for 1m distancing with the aid of physical barriers & latter reminding to stay apart 2m "where possible"

As part of the review three areas were identified where it was established that amendments to the current arrangements could be safely made, with mitigation.

Revised SSOW have been agreed for these tasks, which maintain the commitment to social distancing with a reduction in certain circumstances from 2m to 1m, only where appropriate and with proper mitigation. Attached for the information of Branches are the revised safety documents highlighting the specific tasks and the necessary additional measures required to facilitate the change. Currently these changes only apply in England and Northern Ireland, as Government advice on social distancing in Scotland and Wales maintains the 2m criteria.

Reminder - social distancing must be maintained as a key preventative measure
Wherever possible STAY 2M APART
At present, the most important thing we can all do to help control coronavirus and save lives, is to keep our distance from people who are not from our own households.
Royal Mail supports Public Health England’s social distancing guidance around maintaining a two-metre distance between colleagues, where possible.
The current guidelines for social distancing form part of wider measures to minimise the risk of contracting Covid-19. We are doing what we can to make units across the business Covid-19 secure.
Please continue to follow the preventative guidance. This includes guidance on hand washing and hygiene Opens in a new window, as well as the use of wipes and disposable gloves.
Temporary changes to some operational processes including the one person per van rule, staggered shift times and meal breaks, the cancellation of WTLLs and changes to doorstep deliveries, remain in place.
For specific roles where the two-metre distancing rule is challenging, face coverings are being issued. It is not mandatory for colleagues to wear a face covering, however, they remain available through line managers for anyone who chooses to wear one.
Social distancing is everyone’s responsibility and it is important that we all work together to ensure all preventative guidance is adhered to.
