Hello I was addressing a lot of envelopes today and I must have lost concentration for a moment - as I mistakenly wrote a postcode as BT24 when I meant BN24
This was a special delivery item and the rest of the address is correct. I was hoping they would catch it at the outbound mail centre but the tracking shows that it is on the way to Northern Ireland now.
At what stage is someone likely to notice the single letter error, and will they send it to the right place, hopefully one day later?

The Delivery Office covering BT24 should realise and send it on. Unless there is an address that is pretty similar in BT24 and they try to deliver there.
I think mail centres only look at the first part of the postcode, they don't have the time or resources to perform a consistency check on the whole address.

OK thanks, it's not a valid postcode in BT24 anyway and hopefully the post town PEVENSEY will provide a clue
My items within Great Britain usually arrive at the destination mail centre by around 4am, but this item hasn't arrived yet and now 8.30am. Does anyone know if special delivery items to Northern Ireland go by plane or ferry and is this overnight or not until the morning, and hasthis changed during the COVID era?
Obviously the guarantee is now 9pm (if it was correctly addressed) so they can take their time I guess, but I (and the recipient) will feel less nervous once some more tracking shows up...

You haven’t said where in Great Britain you are. But it certainly flies from most of England.
