Royal Mail Tracked48

Post by Sparrowhawk »

Hi, I wonder if anyone could help ?
I bought an item on ebay then received an email on 26th June saying the item has been despatched. Seller is using RMTracked 48 to send the item. After waiting for my parcel to arrive, I checked on the track your parcel function on RM's website.
My tracking number was recognised, but the details given said "Delivery info received". Does this mean that the seller hasn't posted my item yet as it clearly hasn't been scanned in to any MC or RDC as that would show up on the tracking, wouldn't it ?
I'm an ex RM mail centre employee (IHR), so kind of have an idea how the tracked services work.
Would the parcel have been scanned in at the seller's PO if he had actually posted it ? I know tracked items get scanned when they arrive at mail centres, but this item doesn't appear to be in RM's system at all.
I understand that you guys and girls are under a lot of pressure at the moment with covid and staff absence, and thank you all.
The parcel isn't exactly travelling very far either. (Allegedly) posted in Kilmarnock, so would that have gone on to Glasgow MC or the SDC at Wishaw before travelling on to Edinburgh MC, then my local DO ? So, that's coming from a KA postcode to an EH postcode. The estimated delivery date on ebay was 29th June, but as I said above, the tracking info says "Delivery info received" and has done for a couple of weeks now.
Is it time to get on the seller's case and ask for my money back, as I don't believe he has posted it ?
Thanks very much, and stay safe everyone.

It won't be scanned in at a Post Office because they don't handle Tracked 48. It will need to be collected by / handed over direct to Royal Mail. And it looks to me like that hasn't happened yet.

Thanks very much. That's what I've thought. Seller is blaming RM for the delay too when it clearly looks like he hasn't sent it yet.

This is the reply I received when I queried the delay, asked the seller to please resolve the issue or refund my money. He is 100% blaming Royal Mail !

Hello,

Thanks for getting in touch!

I hope the item has not been lost, we did post it the morning after your purchase however, we are experiencing some delays with Royal Mail - some areas being very quick and others very slow.

Would you be able to allow until the rest of the week as we did notice on the new that Royal Mail were fined 1.5 million for late delivered/non delivered mail.

I hope you can understand us being a small business that our profits aren't huge and I would love it if you could hang on a little longer as Royal Mail are causing us an extreme loss due to their late deliveries.

Regards,
************

Hello,

I appreciate you update.

Due to being a small business we don't actually have the fully tracked service as we can't afford it.

We have the tracking which is tracked when scanned in at Royal Mail depot and scanned when you receive the item. The 2d barcode tracking.

I have collected 48's from PO's and if they wanted to they could ask for a proof of posting, however i've not really paid too much attention to them but they seem to be generally returns and not be the account holder. I'm not there when this stuff is posted so i will ask today to see if the PO scan the items in on receipt.
As for collecting from firms if they have a collection they will generate a manifest, which for my part as a collection officer, doesn't give much information at all. Number of items, average weight, 1st, 2nd, international and so on. Maybe revenue have more details on account information, i.e. specific contents.
Confused... You won't be, after the next episode of. SOAP

Thanks bogstandard. Out of interest, does anyone know if the date/time of posting would be printed on the label ? I know that printed labels for 1st and 2nd class letters and packets have that info on them. It's a few years since I took IHR so can't remember much about Tracked, other than it was part of someone's duty to scan them in up at the loading bay end of the MC.
