Sorry Another Confused Tracking Post

Post by JustinT »

Hello Royal Mail Chat,

I am looking for a little help with a parcel that has thrown my usually good tracking status comprehension. The item is a parcel coming from mainland Spain, it was purchased last week and I was given a tracking number Sunday evening (QRxxxxxxxxxGB, where x represents a number). I initially put this number into the Spanish post office website (seller didn't indicate which service had been used) as it's a standard UPU code and got no joy. Later on Monday I thought I'd try it through Royal Mail as the tracking will usually pick up something of international items before they hit the UK even if it's just to say it's been posted. To which I got that status 'Item despatched to Royal Mail', it's not a status I've ever seen before and after some searching all references I can find are to internal UK mail nothing international. Does this mean the item is stuck in Langley? No problem if so it's not urgent but it's just an odd status.

It's been like that since Monday and I don't think it's concerning enough to call Royal Mail up with at this time considering the extra workload currently. I just wonder if anyone on here had any experience of the code and how it related to items coming in from abroad? Or is it likely to be a duff code for which I will contact the seller?

Many thanks,
SpacePhoenix

With that tracking number ending in GB what's most probably happening is that it gets imported into the UK on another tracking number and goes to a warehouse somewhere around Heathrow. That warehouse then applies the tracking number you were given and then hands it over to Royal Mail who'll scan it under the tracking number you were given
