I work for a small ecommerce fashion brand and have noticed a few times in tracking this strange thing where the 'sender preparing item' message appears after the order has been scanned and is with the Royal Mail machine. (in this particular case this is the tracking code: LG508474898GB)
- Item recived at South Midlands MC (08.06.20) 19:48
- Item despatched to Royal Mail site (08.06.20) 20:31
- Item Received by Royal Mail LANGLEY HWDC (09.06.20) 02:00
- Item Leaving the UK LANGLEY HWDC (09.06.20) 04:46
Aaaaand then...
- Sender preparing item (09.06.20) 17:50
I'm just wondering why the tracking states sender preparing item when it's already been received and scanned by Royal Mail and is well on its way to its destination. Any insight would be amazing. Also I do understand the delays affecting international and domestic postal services at the moment, I'm just querying the tracking messaging.

I'm thinking it's a glitch as it seems to be happening a lot recently. I'm guessing that the system is really struggling with the volume of stuff that needs scanning

That seems logical. I've seen this messaging quite a lot and packages are still reaching customers so was hoping it was just a glitch!
