Hi Everyone,
I'm absolutely frustrated with the Royal Mail website, running round and round in circles trying to get answers, all to no avail. I'm hoping someone might be able to answer my question regarding the topic subject.
Essentially I received an email stating that my package was out for delivery today (to my work address, there's someone there ALL day).
Later I then received another email saying, "Your parcel has reached your local delivery office. We've received a request not to deliver mail to the property your item is addressed to today. We'll attempt delivery as per the instructions we've received, which is usually on the next working day."
I've looked at the local delivery office and it appears that it's open from 7-9am tomorrow morning so I'm "hoping" I can go to the delivery office early and pick up the parcel, which was on a scheduled delivery for today and has been for some time.
What I want to know, is two things:
1. Who the heck said not to deliver today, as it wasn't me and has caused a lot of problems as an expected delivery.
2. Will the delivery office allow me to collect the package if I take identification tomorrow morning.
I've had notification of a delivery being held previously, but that was when it was scheduled to be delivered on the weekend and the office would not be open.
Thanks in advance.

You should be able to retrieve your parcel if you take some I.D. (To be on the safe side if you don't know the actual addressee name on the parcel take I.D. for whoever else it's likely to be addressed to)
There is also the chance that your parcel could be earmarked for an early delivery and may have left by the time you get to the delivery office.
Sorry I don't have better news or advice, too many variables I'm afraid.
A call to Customer Services or via RM Twitter might help .

I'm thinking it was probably at the depot too late to deliver for today, I'm just disappointed the message inferred non-delivery for today rather than a more correct answer. I will attempt to collect in the morning, many thanks for your helpful answer.

Re: We've Received a request not to deliver mail to the property
We had exactly the same issue on 2 seperate items today!
Cetainly, nobody here asked them to hold our mail!! In fact, our postie came and delivered another letter earlier today so how did that one get delivered if no mail is to be delivered here today??!! We are a music shop and the items were orders for customers which are now delayed. Thanks for that Royal Mail!! Just because YOUR service has become terrible does NOT give you the right to make OUR business look as bad!!
This is the second time in as many months I've had cause to make an official complaint about the lack of service from Royal Mail. The first time, we received no mail for almost 2 weeks!!!
Royal Mail is pricing itself out of the market as the service gets worse and worse!! Good luck in surviving past than the next few years...

Just a reminder. We are not an official Royal Mail site and it's unlikely that anyone of any consequence will see this post and respond to it.RocksOff wrote: ↑26 Apr 2022, 15:01We had exactly the same issue on 2 seperate items today!

I would suggest going down to the caller's office of your local Delivery Office and asking to speak to the Delivery Office Manager. Please be polite with the staff as they cannot do anything about the issue you have, and sometimes the Managers are "unavailable". The staff usually face the wrath of customers, but they are only doing what Senior Managers insist on, or local managers guide them to do.
