Item Not moved for 2 weeks on tracking?

Post by katanajim »

I had something posted to me from the post office counters in Dudley via RM 1st Signed for with a tracking number 11 working days ago (21st May)

Tracking on the RM site shows 2 traces (both the same) of

Updated on: Thursday 21 May
03:01pm
Accepted at Post Office Dudley Post Office [NE23 7AB]
03:01pm
Accepted at Post Office Dudley Post Office [NE23 7AB]

But nothing since then...

My questions are:

1) If the item had actually left Dudley post office would there be subsequent traces (i.e. should there be a trace half a day later that the item reached a central England 'hub'?) or would the 'next' trace be for delivery (SW166QS)?

2) if there a scorecard / details of mail backlogs by local depots that can be shared with customers? I realise that Royal Mail is suffering delays and backlogs due to the corona virus but have no idea of how big the impact is in my local distribution centre (believe this is Streatham / prentis road). How long should i give it before i raise a claim (website says i can claim now)? Hopefully you can advise what the Prentis road backlog is looking like? Hopefully its huge and my stuff is just 'caught' in this backlog (fingers & toes crossed).

3) The package i am waiting for contains keys and alarm fobs for a motorcycle (from the previous owner) - how do i prove the value of these for a claim? these were supplied new with the bike by the manufacturer so i have no proof of value for the keys and alarm fob themselves. I can get a quote for their replacement but the fact is there's an envelope in the royal mail system with keys and alarm fob for a motorcycle stored at the address on the envelope! - the safe response to loss of keys (and alarm) with storage address could be to replace the lock sets and alarm (which could run to the £1000's!). I am not sure my insurance would be valid without doing this!

Appreciate the hard work of the royal Mail & all the posties during this tough time!

Cheers

1st Class Signed For doesn't get tracked through the system, the next time it'll get scanned is when delivery is attempted.

2.No score card for posties so I am afraid none for customers either.

Royal Mail do daily reports but to be honest its not very informative as it only shows late connections, and nothing about backlogs etc.

Deliveries and collections should take place throughout the UK today. However, despite our best endeavours, it’s likely some parts of the country will experience some level of disruption due to Coronavirus-related absences at local mail centres or delivery offices. We’re sorry about this. Every item of mail is important to us, so we’re working hard to keep any delays to a minimum. Thank you for your patience and understanding in these unprecedented times.

Royal Mail Logistics Network and Processing Report

Air Network
On Friday night capacity issues meant not all mail was able to travel on the scheduled flight from East Midlands to Belfast, and was instead sent via the road ferry network. As a result a small amount of mail due for delivery in Northern Ireland on Saturday may arrive later than planned.

Rail Network
Our rail network operated to schedule over the weekend.

Road Network
Our road network operated to schedule over the weekend.

Processing (mail centres)
Staffing issues due to self-isolating and social distancing - along with increased parcel volumes - continue to have an effect on our mail centres. Those outlined below reported that not all mail could not be processed to schedule over the weekend, so may be delivered later than expected.

Aberdeen Mail Centre Mail posted in other parts of the UK on Friday 5 June for delivery on Saturday in the AB and ZE postcode areas.
Home Counties North Mail Centre Mail posted in other parts of the UK on Thursday 4 June, due for delivery today in the AL, EN, HP, LU, SG and WD postcode areas.
South Midlands Mail Centre Mail posted in the CV, LE, MK and NN postcode areas on Friday for delivery on Saturday 6 June.
