Hi,
I just wanted some advice on whether to assume this parcel lost considering the current situation. I sent a parcel containing about £250 worth of outdoor equipment and some highly sentimental items to my partner in Northern Ireland from England on 9th May. It hasn't arrived yet and both of us are getting really worried about it and all I've been told by the post office and royal mail is to consider it lost but hope for it to turn up.
So overall, I'm just asking whether it would be subjected to the delays at Heathrow (as im not sure if it counts as international as its still UK, but is overseas) or any other sorting service at all and if i can possibly rely on it showing up eventually?
Thank you

Items going from England to NI would be subject to a safety check, which would take place at Heathrow. This is because they will be going by plane, not because it is an international destination. Given the value, this should have been sent by Special Delivery or a PFW guaranteed service. If you post the tracking information in to this thread we can see if it looks like it got stuck there.EK99 wrote:I'm just asking whether it would be subjected to the delays at Heathrow (as im not sure if it counts as international as its still UK, but is overseas)
"Camping equipment" is a bit worrying, as I can think of several ways that this could breach the Dangerous Goods Act. What did you send?
As it is more than 3 weeks since you sent it, you should be making a claim for loss. This will not affect the parcel's chances of arriving in the end.

Hi,
Thank you very much, I know I should have and I realise that in hindsight, but the only option i was given information on was the second class tracked (was just asked if the value was over £50). It was outdoor gear so simply a down jacket and a climbing helmet, along with a couple of highly sentimental teddies.
The tracking number is NV435971109GB
Thank you very much for your help

That's a tracking number for a 2nd class signed for which isn't tracked through the system, the next scan it'll get is when delivery is attempted

Nothing wrong with any of the contents, unless there are batteries in / with any of those items (e.g. a torch attached to the helmet).

Okay, so is it abnormal then for the parcel to be taking so long (no batteries or anything) considering the situation?

Probably just a lack of cargo capacity for lorries going over to N.I. (probably reduced number of ferries. I don't know if the mail going over to N.I. goes by plane but if it does it's probably a similar situation, reduced capacity on planes)EK99 wrote:Okay, so is it abnormal then for the parcel to be taking so long (no batteries or anything) considering the situation?

Parcel sent to NI
Just wanted to say that the package has reached my partner which is so great! Thanks for all the advice and reassurance.
However, the parcel is missing an item but there's nothing on it to say that it was opened. I've checked my whole house and car for the item incase I forgot to pack it, but I'm 100% certain that I did and the jacket is nowhere to be found. Can anyone suggest why a jacket was removed from the box, but nothing else was, and how to find out what happened to it or to claim for it?
Thank you very much.

For any other information, the box contained 3 teddies, a climbing helmet, the jacket in question and a chocolate bar. I am also very certain everything was posted and have checked everything twice over. Everything else has arrived (which I'm incredibly grateful for as the teddies were highly sentimental and my partner cannot afford to replace his helmet), but the jacket is missing with no explanation as to why.

I can’t think of any reasons for a jacket to be *intentionally* removed, if sent internally within the UK. You need to make a claim. Keep the packaging if at all possible.

Okay, thank you, it was just so odd for it not to be there. Obviously my first response was to doubt that i packed it, but its a fairly large, bright blue jacket and my house isnt that big so i would have found it if it were here.
But ill file the claim now, thanks again
