The managers had a spring in their step and were smiling, the birds were tweeting, the sun shone down...even the PDA didn’t play up as normal.

Re: the bonus, frustrating for those isolating and for us PTers (many who regularly do more hours than FT colleagues) but given that I expected some free stamps at best I look at it as £120 (or whatever it is) gained rather than missing out on the full £200. Doesn’t make it right I know.

Rico had to go didn’t he?! It would be excellent if we used this as an opportunity on all sides to move forward together.

RM - appoint someone who will work with us, a happy motivated workforce will be more open to change.

Dave and Terry, great result on the bonus, let’s just reign things in and revaluate how the union looks on social media - a bit too much willy waving over the last few months. If union leadership intends to remain the same I hope they start pressing to resolve the holiday pay. And for gods sake start sticking up a bit for PTers. In a decade there’ll probably be more PT than FT staff, no good ignoring PTers then wondering why in 10 years none of them are in the union.

You and me - now would be a great time to have a look at ourselves, we do a great job but...let’s work our hours, let’s stop doing everything possible even to the detriment of our colleagues just to save 5 minutes, if you see someone struggling to prep/pull out especially a new starter just give them a few mins of your time, give them a few pointers as most are doing walks blind.

Lastly surprised no one has mentioned this - it won’t have been an off the cuff decision for Rico to leave, it will have been planned, that’s why a new boss has been put in place straight away. These things don’t happen with a few texts and WhatsApp messages!
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Bit strange how the PDA'S worked well today? Were they being nobbled by our Germanic friend from the continent?

If so, that is outrageous.

I was off for a week with very mild symptoms of something, first week in april.

In normal times I would not have been off with such mild symptoms, but due to the risks, and the fact that it was government advice, I self-isolated.

And now I get a lower bonus because of it?
Couldnt agree more had to self isolate for seven days had high temperature and all the trimmings in a box room away from loved ones food and drinks left outside no return to work didnt ask how i felt or feel now dock me 20 knicker off bonus never been on any stage sick no pisstake skiving .

So I do 15% less hours than a 7.5 hour full time employee.....15% taken off £200 = £170.

Is this how it will be worked out?

£170 for me to buy some new curtains?

Massively overpaid to come, rubbish performance, overpaid to go , the reality is top managers are not supermen/women and you don't need to be paid a fortune for a bit of hard work, or a little work at home, in his case.
What a waste of money!

I totally agree, he is not fit for any position in RM.

Blowback from the sneaky attempt at reducing the USO without informing the union?
More likely from not informing Ofcom and the Government, they found out from the news.

Plus might be how Rico crashed the shares many times with his speeches about how badly RM does then pocketed hundreds of thousands of cheap shares.

I could well believe he had his arse kicked by both the government and the top civil servants who probably pointed out a few facts of life .. it was all too obvious that he was taking advantage of the current chaos to push through his own agenda .. it also suggests that the other board members were maybe not impressed by how it was done .. either way, no sympathy from this quarter .. I doubt he'll be having to sign on.

You are definately right, we think alike :)

Agree. All the union meetings at our place are held before us part timers even start work. I mean FFS the union could at least pretend to care about us. And good point the number of part timers is every increasing so if the union don't have our back why should we support them?

Glad Rico is gone. Expect the worse but hope for the best. So I won't expect anything but I live in hope....

I'd read the statement before getting too excited. He was pushed because he was too slow in modernising the company, not too fast. I haven't seen much of a reaction from the union, but I suspect it's because they know what will follow will be worse. He's carried the can because mail has dropped by a third in recent months and it's still our biggest earner, basically. Mail is what keeps us employed, keeps the duties as they are, keeps the USO in place and stops us becoming Hermes or Amazon. They want to force through changes even quicker, basically.

Have we jumped from the frying pan into the fire ? I was delighted hearing Rico had gone but when I heard the statement about increasing the pace of change it sounded like the new people were just carrying on where he left off but worse. I hope im wrong but the union need to be all over this and not congratulating themselves on a £200 payment.

Just a thought but why don’t you organise a meeting with all the part time staff in your office. Discuss issues and get consensus of the issues and then approach you rep/area rep. I agree part timers are getting done over, you need to get together and try and resolve it yourself. if as a group you could highlight your issues and explain them to Full timers they would mainly back you when you present the facts, I certainly would.

Royal Mail Vacancy's We demand a competitive individual who can turn a business around you do not even need a track record in anything just send us your details and we can send you £10 million up front and will pay you after you resign and your legal costs, And pay you to find another job because your not up to speed in the job we employed you for in the first place oh and you can go and tend your garden for three month's. I may put in for it sorry guys and girls as I have nothing else better to do with my time and well if you cannot beat them may as well join them wonder if a mask will keep the projectile vomit in but with the social distancing should be OK on my own Island newly acquired from an entrepreneur who owned an airline. In any case I don't give a flying f**k as one would say the jaws of capitalism have saved me from mixing with the proletariat and I can be at ONE with MYSELF! Where do I sign?
