So if this starts the week commencing 2nd May, they have plenty of time to draw up new duties and work out rotes for days off and all the other minor details that this bombshell announcement requires? Oh no wait, they have less than a week.
Amazing. If the union f***s this up, I'm done.

2nd is this Saturday! New attendances starting the 11th I think. So I'm guessing we wing it this Saturday and next but then it will all be absolutely spot on and really well worked out after a full week of solving all the thousands of problems/issues this will throw upLouBarlow wrote:So if this starts the week commencing 2nd May, they have plenty of time to draw up new duties and work out rotes for days off and all the other minor details that this bombshell announcement requires? So do part timers work less days? Do staff get more saturdays off? Do we all come in Saturday but do a smaller shift? These are some of the questions we dont know.
If they cut 20-30k jobs then who goes first? Last in first out, older full timers, non drivers? There doesn't seem to be any clarity kn anything. Horrible feeling for all.

So many questions....
If it’s the duty holders week off, who will do it? Surely there’s a reason right there to keep staff over than duty holders and day off cover on the books.
Those doing 4 day weeks who don’t drive for Royal Mail (we have some who get every Weds+Thurs off) - will they just be doing Mon, Tues, Fri then indoor work Sat? Contract change?
As one of those ‘last in’ (in an office of 170 ish I’m prob about 155 on the seniority list), I’ll repeat what I’ve said for a while now: at the end of all this, all I want is a job. If it means starting in the afternoon, having all overtime cut, never getting a Saturday off so be it, I’ll live with that. I just want to keep my job:

The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

He exaggerated - 40,000 would be nearly 1/2 of everyone on deliveries. But the actual accuracy of the figures is less important at the moment than what the end game is.rambo1 wrote:How do you get 1/3 of the workforce by dropping a day off the working week?TrueBlueTerrier wrote:You are preaching to the already converted.2yearpostie wrote:And 40 000 of your work mates that will lose their jobs.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:We are leaving 1st and 2nd class letters and large letters.

Phase 1. Probably correct there. Wing the first 2 Saturdays.
Phase 2. Shorter Saturdays, longer attendance Mon, Wed, Thur.
Phase 3. Job losses.

More or less spot on . Except this time he's got Uncle Dave to write the strongly worded letter to various people who don't give a s**t about any of us.
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!

I don't think the public would appreciate us taking any widespread industrial action now, in current times. They won't get bogged down with the finer details of what we are up against with Rico and his henchmen. If the 6 day USO goes, it's a slippery slope down from that point. Parcel dominated on steadily falling terms and conditions. Trust him to take advantage of these difficult times and cast it off as 'helping' us out.

Non drivers could be prepping parcels into yorks for Saturday delivery and mail into frames for Monday delivery ?Woody Guthrie wrote:A non driver isn't much use to you if you're not delivering letters.deltaforce wrote:Not sure where it mentions about non drivers!seaside wrote:So drivers have responsibility of driving all the time are always expected to do large parcels and now non drivers can have every Saturday off. drivers don't get pay a penny extra for driving, think now I would prefer to be non driver much less hassle
