Is HWDC operational during Covid-19?

Post by RWilsonL »

Does anyone know if HWDC at Langley is operational during the Covid-19 emergency? I would quite understand if they were only handling medical materials during this period. I ask as I have a parcel containing a vintage Leica camera lens, inwards from New Zealand. NZ post say that it was loaded onto a UK bound flight on the 2nd of April and should have arrived in the UK on 4th or at the latest, 5th of April. Presumably this would be to HWDC Langley for inwards clearance but no such tracking event has been generated. The last tracking showing on Parcelforce is from the NZ tracking of the package being cleared in NZ for export on 26 March, although if I check direct on NZ Post, their tracking shows later movements than this, with the last being the loading onto a departing aircraft on 2 April. I assume that this means Parcelforce tracking has not been updated since 26 March. The delay in NZ from clearance on 26/3 to dispatch on 2/4 was due to the absence of passenger flights from NZ to UK and it had to wait for a cargo flight.

I should be grateful for any advice of the HWDC current position.

Strictly speaking, this wasn't a News item so I have moved it to customers.

HWDC is still working but there are massive backlogs in the whole of the system. I think the absence rate is running at around 25 - 33% across the whole of the network, and up to 6 posties have died during the pandemic.

No doubt its also causing delays in Customs, which is probably where its currently stuck. As soon as RM get hold of it, it will be scanned, but then allow about a week for it to get to the local delivery office.

I am sorry but the business is pretending everything is normal but on the ground, we can see it isn't we are trying our best but delays are inevitable now and we can only as people to be patient.
