Now 40 years later I am doing the same, but getting paid for it.
(A bit of light relief)

we used to take it to another level. called a ''pyro-pastie'...wrap some dogshit in the 'evening chronicle' (local newspaper). put it on someones doorstep and set fire to it, knock on the door and run away. then watch as the occupant opened their front door and instinctively stamped out the burning newspaper!!....kids eh? :
In my early teens before I had my 'paper run', I used to have a 'crisp run'. That's right, I would go round doors trying to tantalise potential customers with the latest Highlander Crisps.
"No! We only eat Golden Wonder in this house", was a memorable encounter.
And look at me now! I'm delivering 'essential' batches of crisps by the box for those in need. Who'd have thought that early training would one day be put to such vital use..
