Problems with South Midlands Mail Center?

Post by Medran »

Hi everyone,

Has anyone else seen an increase in problems with the South Midlands Mail Center?

I have a bunch of items that all stuck either there or in the "dispatched to heathrow" but just don't seem to ever get there...

I tried flagging this up to the official customer service but sadly the guy I spoke to didn't care and actually told me why it even bother sending out stuff at the moment... well they were posted/ordered prior to the lockdown... not that this seemed to matter to him.

Thanks,

Marc

It was an excellent answer I may use it as the Customer queries about the effect COVID19 is having on the network.

Bah one of the countries to which a parcel is stuck has been put on suspension as of today.

I’m assuming there is no way to get the parcel back? :(

I could book it in with fedex who still takes items to that destination... but couldn’t afford sending a replacement for this as well as the original shipment being delivered in god knows how many months. :/

The item was posted out well before that restriction came place so slightly frustrating.

You can't get it back, because that would be illegal, and even if it wasn't it would be so difficult as to be almost impossible.

Hmmm that’s a shame considering even the useless Hermes can get an item back en route. :/

And most annoying that it wasn’t a suspended location at time of posting or I wouldn’t have posted it at all...

So I had a reply from RM customer service telling me that one of the items I was worried about will be disposed off as the destination is on long term suspension now... how is that not illegal. Surely it should be returned to me not disposed off!

They can only dispose of it if it comes under the Dangerous Goods Act or other rule breaking by you. So, just to rule that out, what was inside the package?

Collectible children figurines made of rubberise plastic.

The way customer service explained it is that because the country is now on long term suspension it’s not feasible to store the items and too difficult to return them to individual Senders so I should just make a claim for a lost item as normal from the 15th of April.

Sounds strange, I can't see why it would be difficult to return any parcel that cannot make its destination.
