Hi folks,
Would appreciate some guidance on what I should do about a package sent “international tracked” today to USA.
I was not asked to complete a CN22 customs form when posting the package at my Post Office. I did not include a return address on the package itself (as I usually write this on the C22 form!)... I only realised after the event that I was not asked to complete a CN22 form as usual. I went straight back to the Post Office when realising, but the item had already gone “into the system”... Package contains a birthday gift and items of sentimental value. Was hoping the “tracked” service would offer peace of mind, but appear to have fallen at the first hurdle...
Two questions:
1) I have a tracking number and receipt/proof of postage. Is there anyway I can retrospectively attach a CN22 customs form to my package, or even a return address so that it can at least find its way back to me?
2) What is likely to happen to my package without a customs form, and without a return address?

PO staff should remind senders to add customs forms where appropriate because it is good customer service, but ultimately it is the sender's responsibility to ensure that appropriate paperwork is attached.
On the second, I don't know the answer, but I suspect that it is a good idea to lodge a case with RM's customer services. There is a webform on their website.
On the first, it would be illegal for Royal Mail to make changes to the package while in transit, and even if it wasn't, it would be a huge task to locate it (even though it is tracked). There is no electronic version.BabbingtonBrook wrote:Two questions:

Thanks for the prompt reply Snaggletooth, that’s really helpful. I’ll complete the webform to explain matters to Royal Mail on their website, and give them my tracking number... Fingers crossed!
