Oi leighton you person whose 100%over paid and underworked, what extra are you gonna do to save money. How about turn up at a work building and do your what you do for free and give your pay to the workers

if the gas/elec companies are currently paying 200pw for this service and we take over we posties should get atleast half that which means an extra 20quid a day for maybe 1/2 hours work (ten houses). some meters can be read in minutes, some may take longer. I'd do it.
However if RM got the buisness I 100% belive they would pay us a minimal ammount of maybe 25p per house which would be about 15quid a week. They would say that's fair while they take the other 150 odd quid for their managers bonus scheme or for Alan's latest bonus.

You will get nothing for doing this it is called being flexibile and if you refuse the resonable request you will be sacked!.opgpat wrote:if the gas/elec companies are currently paying 200pw for this service and we take over we posties should get atleast half that which means an extra 20quid a day for maybe 1/2 hours work (ten houses). some meters can be read in minutes, some may take longer. There was remote reading mooted some years ago but I would imagine you would need to upgrade the metering to transmit wirelessly and with all the stuff wirelessly operated there could well be a conflict. The equipment also needs to be checked because there is a danger of overloaded gear where the compound melts and of course fiddling the meter which was prevalent in the 70s. I could recount the tale of a famous footballer from one of the two Liverpool teams who was illegally extracting power.IWW Fellow Worker wrote:I was talking to a meter reader a couple of months ago who told me they were going to introduce new meters which can be read from outside the house. All you do is drive past a row of houses, a device reads the meter as you drive past and job done. If that's right, Allan and Adam will have to give us all buckets and ladders instead and we can clean a few windows for the 40% of the day we're all hanging about doing sod all.
Forget the window cleaning, we have already discussed the back flap pants and brush
