At present, there appears to unusual gaps in Customs probably because of the Covid19 and Brexit issues, for an official answer you need to contact Royal Mail direct.

Customs don't scan anything and they are the last people to see it before leaving the country and the first when it arrives.
SO no you are not wrong, but yes you are, when it is in either customs it is in Limbo. It is the Schrodinger's cat of the postal world, neither in the country nor out of it till a postie at one end scans it.

Whats wrong?
So it goes to the local parcel service, then to the customs, flying to the destination country to the customs, then to the parcel service in the destination country?
Im a little confused because i thought it goes to the customs just in the destination country...

No it goes to both. There are laws in both countries on what you can and cannot export/import so they check for their own local legislations. Even before Brexit when we were in the EU items still had to be cleared for legal, safety and criminal reasonsHarrisonFord wrote:So it goes to the local parcel service, then to the customs, flying to the destination country to the customs, then to the parcel service in the destination country?

Makes sense. But until the end of 2020 i thought there were no changes from brexit?
So it could be that the parcel is already in the destination country and the customs have it there? Nobodys knows exactly, right?

If it's going to a country in Europe then it'll most likely be handled by a company called GLS within Europe
