Item stuck at Langley HWDC
So I ordered an I’m from Serbia which was shipped on Monday and arrived at Langley on Wednesday afternoon. Since then I’ve had no tracking update other that the “ This item has been received at LANGLEY HWDC, United Kingdom. More information will be available as it travels through our UK network“ I paid £400 for this item and I can’t get any information. There’s no duty to pay on it I just want my item or any information. I’m certainly not going to get it from Post. It’s an absolute joke I could possibly have lost all that money.

It sounds like it is in customs, who are a law enforcement agency and don’t provide updates to customers or to Royal Mail. 2-3 days is not that long to spend there, particularly for items that get selected at random for extra checks.
An item worth that much coming from a non-EU country would normally be liable for tax. Items that are taxable seem to take longer to clear than ones that aren’t.
Items that are worth more than £270 require the longer CN23 customs form. Many senders fail to notice this rule (even though it is broadly the same around the world) and use the shorter and more common CN22 instead. So inadequate customs documentation could be another source of delay.
And that’s without getting into what it is. Most things that are small enough to send by Royal Mail but are worth £400 are liable to have some kind of issue with customs or Dangerous Goods rules. It would be helpful if you told us what is in the package...

It's could well be stuck in Serbian Customs? Are you sure that with a value of £400 that there'd be no customs charge to pay? Any lithium batteries in the parcel - they can sometimes cause problems?Hamdenssor wrote:So I ordered an I’m from Serbia which was shipped on Monday and arrived at Langley on Wednesday afternoon. Lego..no joke..very rare and expensive. I know for a fact he never declared the value and it should have sailed through it’s a very small box that’s vaccinating sealed inside. And I’m definitely sure it’s at Langley as I can follow tracking quite well.

Lego should not cause a problem in itself. But not declaring the value is just asking for trouble.

How so? He never declares the value and I’ve not once had a problem. It’s Langley and there inability to process parcels in a timely efficient manner. My last order was still showing as being in a different country when it was delivered?! Who can you rely on and trust that you’ll receive your order?

Just because you don't have a problem normally when going against the rules, doesn't mean it will always happen.Hamdenssor wrote:How so? He never declares the value and I’ve not once had a problem. As a declaration should be made, and there appears to be a delay its most likely that if wasn't made, then that is the most likely reason.
Also without knowing which tracking services Serbian Post uses, it's difficult for this NON ROYAL MAIL site to say why the previous item was delivered when the last scan was in another country.

The last scan was made at Langley so I do know when the last scan was made. Tbh I don’t know what’s declared but for 4 years I’ve been ordering without a hitch. It’s due to be delivered by RM once released or eventually processed. For all I know it could still be in a cage waiting to be processed. Wouldn’t it be prudent for RM to introduce a notification on their tracking saying customs hold. As I’ve said I’ve had multiple shipments from different countries sometimes it updates after it hits our shores. I had a package delivered from Italy according to the tracking was still in Italy. It’s only been since Wednesday so I’m not extremely worried but surely there must be a better system if RM are as customer focused as they claim to be. These delays severely affect my business when I cannot give them basic answers

If they knew they would.Hamdenssor wrote:Wouldn’t it be prudent for RM to introduce a notification on their tracking saying customs hold.
Customs is a legal government department, they don't have to answer to, or provide RM with any information.
Therefore they DO NOT tell Royal Mail which items they have decided need extra checking and indeed to do so may be illegal. Just imagine how much it would help an illegal steroid importer if Royal Mail were able to tell customers that their shipment had been delayed.
Anyway as we are not an official Royal Mail site we can only offer insights, if you need an explanation then you need to contact Royal Mail direct.
Unlikely RM operates under a clear office policy so unless there has been a massive cock up the chances of that happening are slim.it could still be in a cage waiting to be processed

Like massive cock ups don’t happen at Langley such a terrible reputation. And like I’ve said I’ve have a parcel delivered whilst the tracking showed it was still in Italy. Other packages sit for over a week no tracking update until I sign for it. Yes they are a government body but a simply message held for further inspection isn’t a stretch. It’ll no doubt show up out the blue.

So my item has still not arrived and there’s been no tracking update either. It’s still stuck at Langley.,my tracking is RR264999143RS since I left that out by mistake. At this point is it a complete write off?

No, it only, according to tracking, arrived 2 full working days ago.Hamdenssor wrote:So my item has still not arrived, and there’s been no tracking update either. It’s still stuck at Langley., my tracking is RR264999143RS since I left that out by mistake. At this point, is it a complete write-off?
If you check other threads dealing with Customs/HWDC some have, during busy times, taken weeks to process.
The average time is around a week or so if they are no issues,
