Royal Mail Int Tracked&Signed to Europe - nobody knows where it is

Post by Razant »

Hi,

Have bought something from a seller I've bought before, he posted through Royal Mail with compensation for the real value. Tracking number: RN510476243GB
It tracked nicely until Royal Mail said that from Langley it was "handed to delivery partner" (which is GLS) on the 26 of January, nothing from then on.
No tracking on GLS, no tracking on Royal Mail.
GLs says they have not received this parcel. Royal Mail says they've handed it over to GLS.
For the record, it wasn't something prohibited, it was just a Sennheiser radio transmitter for a microphone.

Then 2 days ago, the same thing, something sent over to me from UK to Europe, the same s**t, handed over but no tracking in GLS systems. This time it was just a bloody plastic housing support for a microphone. Nothing even susceptible of being forbidden in any way.
Then another. And another... At the moment I have like 4 parcels in the same situation as the one you have the tracking number for.
Called Royal Mail, they said to wait for another 3 weeks and then the sender can call them to lodge a complain. Seriously, I can't believe that 3-4 different parcels that are sent to me are stopped like this and no news about it. There is something happening with this service in Royal mail and I can't believe they say they can not do anything for three more weeks and can't believe they would just cough up hundreds of pounds for missing parcels.
I don't know who transports the parcels from Royal Mail HWDC Langley to GLS centre in Germany, GLS says it's Royal Mail. Royal Mail says it's not them. But for the Love of God, I wish someone higher up in Royal Mail would screen this situation and do something about it. As right now, they don't seem to give a...**** and they just pay someone blindly to loose or steal parcels and they don't care about reimbursing the senders for the value of the items.
Could someone make anything of this and please tell me what's going on.

Royal Mail Int Tracked&Signed to Europe - nobody knows where it is

1. The parcel you supplied the tracking number for appears to be stuck in customs. There won’t be any further tracking until customs release it.

2. Radio transmitters are banned by many countries, including some in Europe. It would be useful to know the destination country so we can rule this out.

3. Germany are one of the countries that ban radio transmitters. There have been problems with items transitting Germany to third countries when the parcel contains goods banned by German law, even where the goods are technically allowed to pass through.

4. Ultimately, this isn’t your problem. You should be making a claim for a refund from the seller for failing to deliver in the time contracted. Failure of the subcontractor is the seller’s problem.

Hi.
The destination country is Romania.
I have received similar items in the past with no issues at all (probably more than 6 in the past year).
The radio transmitter is a bodypack transmitter for a lavalier microphone, manufactured by Sennheiser in Germany. We are not talking about some big transmitter, we’re talking about a microphone transmitter used on television and film sets. One that functions on a Legal frequency in all countries in Europe, including Great Britain, Germany and Romania. One that you wire a small microphone to, attach to your belt and then transmits to a similar receiver that is somewhere on set. Manufactured in Germany, not some wild thing that would disrupt communications. Its power is less than 10 mW.
I doubt German customs would have stopped this when it’s even manufactured in their own country, the manufacturer sends this and sells this all over the world...

Just googled for "bodypack transmitter for a lavalier microphone, manufactured by Sennheiser" and it looks like it's fallen foul of Germany's ban on lithium batteries

Hi. Don’t know exactly what are you trying to say, but this doesn’t have any batteries attached to it. It works with two AA, which are not present in the parcel.
The item is something like this: https://en-de.sennheiser.com/broadcast- ... -ek-500-g4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And here is a second parcel with te same bloody status...
https://www.royalmail.com/track-your-it ... 86587160GB" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . This one is just a bloody xlr conector for a microphone. Geez... I really understand when people would think we, senders and recipients are just impatient, but seriously, this is not a forbidden item in any way, in any country on this planet.
And guess what: other parcels sent from the UK with the same service, with the same items and handed to GLS as well are on track.
What if for these two parcels the subcontractor used by Royal Mail to deliver the parcels to GLS Germany is the same? What if it’s not the subcontractor but it would be the same people on duty when the parcels are checked and sent further? I can’t really begin to think otherwise... Stumped? No way, as parcels sent last week (so after the first one) and parcels sent on Tuesday, so after the second one, have been on track and one of them delivered...
So for both these two parcels that seem to be lost, Royal Mail will loose aproximately £500. Because if they are lost, stolen or whatever on their watch, they are responsible to the seller.
To be honest, I wish I have had a couple of hundred thousands available just to buy stuff and send them over here through Royal Mail. Maybe when the sum is larger, they would check what happens in their courtyard. Cause at the moment they don’t seem to care. And that is lousy management.

Hi, Razant
I'm in the same situation, I see that your XLR connector was delivered. The bodypack still doesn't come up on GLS website.

What did you do in this situation?
I can get my money back from the seller, no problem there but I am expecting a pretty rare headshell which is not easily available.

Regards
Sorin

Well, this is an interesting twist of events:
Ordered a turntable headshell from eBay, plain aluminium and 4 copper wires, nothing special, nothing really expensive, just very rare. Delivered from London to Bucharest Romania.
Posted on 17th of February, Item leaving Langley since 18th of February, nu status update (it does not appear in GLS system) until today when 17track.net reports that the parcel reached Colombia !!??!!

https://t.17track.net/en#nums=RN428350634GB" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The funny thing is, that after a week or so after the item was posted, one of the tracking websites, reported that the final destination of the parcel is Colombia, but I thought it was just a glitch in the web of competing parcel-tracking websites. I can't find that site anymore but it had it right from the beginning...
OK, I know Colombia and Romania share the same national flag colors, but that's kind of far-fetched.

Since 17th of February, I had many parcels delivered or shipped, Cyprus to Bucharest, normal post - 5 days, Bucharest - Montreal (yup, that's Canada), normal post - 7 days, Dublin to Bucharest, GLS, 40kg parcel - 6 days, France to Bucharest, Colissimo, 5days. All were simple and the cheapest delivery services we could find. Judging form other services performance, it's not a problem at the destination (as I usually believe because I have a complete lack of trust in Romanian services) but it seems that only Royal Mail have a hard time finding Bucharest.

What is wrong with Royal Mail?
