Puretoon wrote:They may well do that, but it's still stuck at Langley and not moving at all and like OP who's American seller is using the same courier in the same way, they're stuck too. I heard Royal Mail run Customs is this true? if so that could be why everyones is posting on here. Can you please do any checking for me in Customs to see why it's being held there? We need help please-thanks
Royal Mail don't have anything to do with Customs. Customs are a government department (think they come under the Home Office).

Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs are a semi-autonomous division of Her Majesty’s Treasury.

https://www.gov.uk/government/organisat ... toms/about" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

HMRC are a law enforcement agency. They don’t give updates to the public on ongoing investigations.

Links between RM and HMRC:

1. RM share some buildings with HMRC, notably at Langley HWDC.
2. HMRC contract the collection of import duties and fees to RM.
3. HMRC’s tax collecting side send out vast numbers of letters via RM, making HMRC one of RM’s most important customers.

Though definitely not the same thing, you can see why RM won’t criticise HMRC.

It’s large mug-that’s all and search as I have, I’m drawing up blanks. The company I’m dealing with, Etsy, say it’s never happened before.

Please, can anyone help? I’m really fed up with waiting. Thanks.

Just tried GM275331468001101956 on https://webtrack.dhlglobalmail.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and its tracking to Langley as you say.

Might be worth ringing DHL

I regularly buy a lot of items in from China and I currently have a medium-sized (35x15x10cm) package on the way from there. As usual it's taken less than a week to travel thousands of miles from the back end of China into this country, and then it can take anything up to a fortnight or more to travel a hundred miles from Langley to my door.

That usual grumble aside, the package mentioned above seems to be stuck in customs limbo. Unfortunately the seller of the item has sent it by China Post which only tracks the item into the UK and not to my door, only giving a tracking number that Royal Mail cannot recognise. China Post tracking however can inform the buyer of the assigned RM tracking number (that can then be checked on RM's site) once the item has cleared customs.

My problem is this: China Post's tracking showed the item having entered the UK and informed me that it was awaiting customs clearance. I checked back two days later and tracking announced that the item was 'in transit at destination country'. So far so unremarkable, and the latter statement usually means a package is through customs and finally on its way to my door. This time however, there was no RM tracking number provided by China Post. I returned to the tracking the next day to see if an RM number had now been assigned, and the status had returned to 'Awaiting customs clearance'. A day later, it was back to 'In transit'. The next day, back to 'Awaiting customs clearance'. And so on. This back-and-forth has never happened before and I'm not entirely sure what it means. Until it gets assigned an RM tracking number, should I assume it's stuck at Langley no matter what China Post tracking says? Not had the usual grey card for a customs fee or anything.

It's nothing illegal or controversial by the way, just a 12-inch collectable action figure. If they do get pulled up by customs its usually a simple case of paying a few quid in VAT (with RM's usual exorbitant 'admin fee' slapped on top) and it gets delayed by a further week or so.

I've never had a package delayed this long before or with this weird back-and-forth on it's status - I suppose a lot of people are having the idea to get any imports they need into the country before the proverbial hits the fan on October 31st, causing delays and confusion in the normal customs clearance process?

Simply says weve got it and its at Langley.

Its my 9 year old boys cuddly toy hes had from birth - we left in it Singapore on a recent visit but was posted.

Am I right to assume this is lost ? given that its been at Langley since 9th Jan ???

no 3 weeks delay is rare but not unheard of - there is still a very good chance it will be delivered.

Customs must have picked the batch of mail your item was in.

Hello people,

I've been waiting for a package from Australia since 30th December. It's a cheap brand new mobile phone, so after reading a few posts on this forum, I think it might be held up due to its battery.

After chasing the buyer, Royal Mail have finally today updated the tracking information to show its now at Langley HWDC as of this morning. Tracking no. LK986066142AU

Originally the delivery date was supposed to be 19th January. Am I going to have to wait at least another 3 to 4 weeks before it leaves Langley? Is there anyway to find out as I'm thinking I might just cancel the order and get elsewhere as I really needed this asap.

Thanks

It'll now be with Customs - neither Royal Mail nor Australia Post have any say/influence over how long an item will take to clear customs.

The status now says “in transit’. Does this mean it’s on its way to me ? Stupid question maybe.

My parcel which did say 'In Transit' after being at Langley since 9th Jan (RC741784250SG) - Now says item recieved, and then follows up with 'item leaving overseas' singapore again. What on earth is going on - Has this parcel been sent back to singapore, and now its on the way back again ??? jesus christ

Is that tracking number correct? The Royal Mail website doesn't recognise it and the Singapore Post site says it doesn't exist
