Very good - but has he replied? We should be writing to the transport 2000 people and Friends of the Earth and Greenpeace and anyone else interested in the issue of carbon emissions. Mind no doubt some Government lackey would be wheeled out to say it was the equivalent of 10 cows farting.

Make you 100% correct... I cant stand screws who tell you to do something and they know they wouldnt do it themselves...

Bag drops supposed to be secure... IE in a known trusted place either under lock n key that postie has or shop that had been vetted.. Not some old codgers gaff or park bench..

What worries me is that most of the safe drops they got ain't that safe, ie someone doorway, front garden, bin and yes even a barn in the middle of nowhere. I am on a two year suspended thingie (where i got to be a good boy for two years,) because I left a bundle of mail in my pannies on my bike and the bike was stolen. Got it back within half a hour, but the manager and the police got involved. Twas my fault, so i held my hand up and took the punishment. But what would happen if one of my bags went missing at what is meant to be a secure bag drop area, but in reality in someone front garden behind a bin? Would they get suspended or in trouble or will I get in trouble? That is the one queston, not one manager would ever answer

We are in a situation where as an SPDO closed down and the sorting has gone to the nearest town. We now have to travel in our own vehicles out to the village concerned and it really pisses me off because my wife takes me to work sometimes if she needs the car for the day then picks me up OR if weathers nice I go on 2 wheels to work (coupled up to a fair sized engine of course ). So I'm in a situation where its awkward for me not to take the car to work. The mail is dropped out to the village by van as the insurance won't cover me to carry mail, but I have problems when it comes to bringing mail back...
I've asked my manager for a van but they have said no chance as the budget won't allow one, but in my opinion if the job canot be done effectively without one, whats the issue...Its a right cock up I tell ya

Pouching off is when you put your returned mail, signing cards, keys etc. into a PO (in the blue pouch bag), ask your DUM and union rep about it.

There is no PO now in the village..Only a Postbox.. Been a postie 15 years and at 3 different delivery offices and never had to pouch off!!.. Learn something new everyday eh!!
