I had 3 parcels that I sold on eBay, so I went to drop them off at my local post office. All 3 were paid with Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1pm the next working day, so they were tracked and signed for. Unfortunately, the worker was scanning the labels as if I hadn't paid for them, so when I told her that they were prepaid, she didn't know how to reverse what she just did. I had to wait hours for someone else to fix what had happened, and because of this error, they were not able to give me a receipt. One of the parcels was delivered with no problems, and another was also delivered with no problems apart from the tracking not working properly, presumably because of the previous error. The last parcel was apparently lost by Royal Mail.
I'm trying to file a claim, and currently they are saying I have insufficient evidence to claim the value of the parcel, as it was worth £300 and I had compensation for £500. There was no way for me to obtain a receipt that day due to what had happened at the Post Office, so I don't have physical evidence of proof of posting. However, as it was tracked, I don't understand why I can't use the tracking number and tracking info as proof of postage as it shows that the item was dropped off, and that it was mailed to the mailing center, but never reached the recipient.
Is there anything else I can do to show proof of postage, or should the tracking info be sufficient? Losing £300 because of something outside of my control would be really annoying.
Thanks.

If the parcels were prepaid, it means you paid for them online, using a bank card?
Maybe a bank statement proving that you paid for 3 special deliveries that day, one of wich is lost will help you?

This might help but it seems that they want proof that I dropped it off at the post office, but I'll add it on and see. I don't understand why they can't use the tracking number to see this.

Because they can`t verify that as you paid online and have no proof apart from bank statement and tracking number.
In fact those 2 should be enough, maybe if you mention to Rm that you`ll have a solicitor on the case, they will accept your proof?
