The Xiaomi Redmi 8 retails in the UK at over £100. But you said in the other thread that the customs declaration shows $18. This could explain the delay at customs: it could look like you are trying to evade the import duty. This will cause customs to stop and examine it hard, taking extra time.

None of that explains the weird tracking, though.
Well they don't know how much it cost isn't it? Maybe a gift or i won it for 18£ how can they say? Other people put gift so they don't pay tax. But the weird tracking i am shock. They said 3 day ago. It arrive in Langley. Now they saying we don't have it. I think they lost it and this bas....d doesn't want to take accountability! At least admit it?! What is the max that someone waited for an item at langley if you recall?
On track17 saying same thing at royalmail. Another tracking app saying that is in country processing arrival sorting center, ali express and another singpost saying arrived last mile. Mmm wtf???? Which one to believe now? But even though. From the 7 still no movement. Royal mail tracking is really weird. Even ask the seler if he send another one mmm we'll see

Customs only have two jobs: stopping items from coming into the country that shouldn’t, and taxing things coming in that should. So if they spot it, they will tax it.

Probably about 6 weeks when it got really bad the other year.

I just looked up on https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... post-users" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and the it looks like customs duties are payable irrespective of whether it's a gift or not when the value is above £135.
Given the timings, I'm wondering if UK customs have possibly refused it entry

Ok but at least a letter explaining why? Rather than all this headache. At least i know. But i Don't think so. Why would they do that? I never had issues with phones from china
I found out today that my item is going back to sender. Reason why saying are:
Sender was not home
Retention day expired
I refused
Adress not very clear missing letters
I believe was the last one as i was always at home during postman time . Never had a grey card so has to be the last one.

Looking at the updated tracking, it looks weird. I'd have expected to see a "Return to sender" scan by Royal Mail if it was being returned which makes me think that Royal Mail have never received it. The impression that I get is that it's been returned to Singapore having never been received by Royal Mail (which makes me think that UK Customs might have refused it entry).

i think custom didn't allow the phone. I need to to know why for future reference. That is sttange as i said because this is not my first phone from china. Anyway i got my money back but this was so annoying. All the wait and my Christmas ruined. Thank you royal mail!!!!!!!
Langley again and my powerbank in less then 5 hours has been released. Why is this? Based on what. Both have battery. If it was for tax why not send me a grey card mmmm. Anyway i got an update on my returning item saying return to lodger. What that means?

Customs choose random batches of mail for closer inspection, the first item was probably in one of the randomly chosen batches. The "Returned to Lodger" I'm guessing that it has been returned to the sender. You should email the sender to ask them if they've received the item back.
With no grey card, there won't be one if an item is not released by customs.

who's paying for the return? Because AliExpress refund ed me in full. If the sellee does not get back the item technicaly is not my fault right. And i think because custom did not allow for a phone to come they i believe its their fault so they have to pay right? Because i won't pay
Hiya
I sent two parcels going to the same destination on the 8th December one arrived fine to its destination (Spain) but the other has been stuck at Langley since the 9th December reading everybody’s comments I’m getting concerned that my parcel may never be delivered and is in fact lost. Can someone please advise what’s the best case to try and find the parcel ? Or get it on its way or for it to return its way back to me I did put the return address on it incase something happened.
